Default Chain Texts

I hate these things. I never read them.

But the other day, my mother-in-law (Christian, we get along great) sent me one that went a little something like this...

Jesus loves you! He wants to give you joy and prosperity! Accept him into your life right now by sending this message to 9 other people within the next ten minutes!

If you don't...something bad will happen to you before the day is done!

I called my mother-in-law and asked her not to send me anymore of those. She was insulted. "If you loved Jesus, it wouldn't hurt you to send that message to nine other people!" she said.

"I do love Jesus. But Jesus didn't have cell phones back when they were nailing him to the cross," I told her. "And the bible tells me that if I want to accept Jesus into my heart, all I have to do is to ask him...not send a message that promises doom if you don't obey."

Anybody else get this message? How do you handle it? What do you think?

(besides, messages cost me 5 cents to send/receive)

These things really annoy me. They insinuate that you are ashamed or not a true Christian if you don't foreword them to all of your buddies...ugh!

Then theres the problem of viruses being spread by chain mails like this.

In my email, I just delete them now. I haven't received one in mt text yet, but I would ask people not to send things to me that way.

I'd tell them..."I can keep them forever in my email (if I want to). This is the better way to reach me with written information."

Some of them have very beautiful poems or stories with them. If I can, I "clean it up" by taking out the part about "if you are not ashamed....." and then send the poem or picture or whatever. Otherwise, I delete them without sending them on. This is intimidation and manipulation. Manipulation is another word for witchcraft.

I don't like these mails either. I don't need somebody to tell me and 10 of their friends where I am at in my walk with Christ. I also have found that for some reason, whoever makes these things up is trying to compete with War and Peace. They take a half an hour and good cup of coffee to get all the way through them.

Lets see...I broke the chain.

I got on my treadmill last night for the first time in about two months. Broke a sweat. Realized that I'm out of shape. Huffing and puffing.

Exercise is bad! Bad, bad!

So I guess something bad did happen to me before the day was out.

The text message that I got from mother-in-law though was strange because it starts out Jesus loves you!!! And then closes with a curse...if you don't do this, something bad will happen to you.

Just thought that sounded a little phony and childish to me. Oh well...

Jesus knows I love him right back.

I got one once that had the threat that something bad would happen and it had a graphic of the inside of a house burning. That is a terroristic threat, if you ask me.

Yah , W. W..... They are so annoying. If the message is good I usually erase all that stupidness at the bottom before I send it. It's beyond me why people send those things . Makes me thing of when I was a kid and we passed those letters around in school.

Most of them go to the junk.
