Hi everyone, I'm a new member and was led to the forum. The thought just popped into my head-try a Christian forum! (Probably because I spend a lot of time online anyway, so God is probably trying to sway me from myspace to something more Godly to be addicted to
)Anyway, my question here, is as a new Christian, how do I rid of those negative thoughts I've been getting? I think a lot, about Christianity, and I've been saved for about 2 months now. In these two months, man has my mind been going crazy. Everytime I think something about Christianity makes sense, something else tells me "no, that can't be possible!" I definitely feel as if I am under attack. Since I've been a Christian, Jehovas Witnesses came to my door to give me a pamphlet, then they came back and asked for me. Also, a book of Mormon pamphlet showed up in my bedroom (it totally threw me off too, because I had no idea what Mormon was, and the pamphlet mentioned Jesus, and I almost looked into it until my mother explained differently.) Anyway, I'm rambling. I'd just like to know how to keep Satan out of my mind. I know how to keep Satan out of my everyday life decisions, but I feel as if I have little to no control over the thoughts that go on in my head! (As weird as that sounds.) Can anybody offer me some insight? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's gone through this. =] Thanks Amy |

Hi, I am a newbie also.
I learned from someone that the best way to tell a counterfeit from the real thing is to study the real thing so much that you can tell the counterfeit the first time you see it. That's the way bank employees are taught to tell one. They are taught to study a $20 bill so well, that they can detect the counterfeit one instantly. Don't study the counterfeit. And, yes, the enemy will try to pull you away from your new belief a lot now. Just find a Bible you can read and understand and start underlining and highlighting all the verses that "grab" you. Even jot the ones you want to remember down in the front of that Bible so you will remember where they are when you need them. I am going to start trying to memorize some favorite verses with a friend of mine (even though she is Mormon) so that I will have His word in my hidden in my heart. There are many ways you can combat the enemies' whispers. You just have to be diligent and hungry enough. God bless you. |

Welcome to the forum Amy,
One step at a time. . . Prayerfuly, one step at a time. May I suggest, that your first step be to get out of My Space. Luk 11:24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. Luk 11:25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. Luk 11:26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Above is a peice of God's written word that I have found useful when guarding the heart and mind from Satan's influence and combating bad habits and other issues as well. When we remove demons from our life we need fill the time and space in our minds, hearts and lives with good things, things of God, family, love so that that which we have disposed of doesn't have a place to return to. Respectfuly yours Sincerely His Theophilus (Cliff) Last edited by Theophilus; 01-01-2008 at 11:18 PM. |

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Eph 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; Eph 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. We are to be renewed in our minds. As we receive revelation in the Word of God by His Holy Spirit we began to believe His Word above what we see , think , feel or sense- each area where this happens is an area were we are renewed in our mind.We become saturated with His Word and we are made new in the very life force of our thoughts. When we come into agreement with the Word of God and walk in faith there is no weapon conceived in hell that can stop us. God's Word is life, light and truth . The darkness allways flees the light. Many blessings, your brother Larry. |

Psalm 28:7
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song Psalm 31:14 But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, "You are my God." Psalm 37:3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Psalm 37:5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: Psalm 40:3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD. Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. The main thing Amy is to put your trust in the Lord and He will never fail. Read the Word and put it into your spirit. Pray and get into a good Bible believing church and fellowship with other believers who can encourage you and help and pray for you ... God Bless.

Thanks everyone. So basically what you're saying is to incorporate God and the Bible into my life so much, so that there is no room for Satan to overwhelm my thoughts? If that's the way it works, that's great! But in my experience it seems that the more I do include God into my life, the more Satan tries to influence me. The farther away I am from God the more Satan leaves me alone.
I completely understand what you're saying, but in my [short] experience, it's completely the other way around. ![]() I know no bad can come from reading the Bible and seeking God, though, so I'll definitely continue in my journey with the advice you've given. |

Amy.... That is exactly it. Because satan does not want You to follow the Lord and he will put everything he can in your way to block the blessings as he knows that right now you are a new creation in Jesus Christ... old things are passed away behold all things have become new. That is why it is important for you to stay in the Word , We are never promised an easy road and there will be bumps, ruts, hills etc but as we continue along the road putting the Word of God into our Spirit the devil has to flee cause he cannot stand against the Word.
Bless you my dear.
