Amy, I would just add that this is a tactic of the enemy that he often uses with new Christians, me being one of them when I first got saved, so dont feel worried or alone.
Everyone has given good advice, and I can only add read christian testimonies also,
some of the old one are the best, people like Corrie Ten Boom who was a prisoner during the second world war (The Hididng place),
Jackie Pullinger who went to Hong Kong alone at the call of God and ended up helping drug addicts to be set free (Chasing the Dragon).
I believe God says that we overcome the enemy by the Blood of the Lamb and our testimony, speak out loud whenever you feel the attack beginning, I am a Blood bought Child of the Living God, He is the Way the Truth and the Life.
Just keep on keeping on.
See if you can get to a Christian bookstore and find some encouraging writing such as I have mentioned.
God bless.

Youve now become a real threat to satan, so the battle is on. But, getting rid of the negativity is something you have to train your mind to do. Its gonna take some time. Just be very aware that those negative thoughts are planted there by satan. Its what he does. Its just a matter of, with God's help, training yourself to kill those seeds before they take root. Just try to keep yourself in a positive frame of mind, and in postive situations.

Not quite understanding this negativity towards myspace though. Because of it i was able to reconnect with old friends, and rekindle those friendships.

Anyway, my question here, is as a new Christian, how do I rid of those negative thoughts I've been getting? I think a lot, about Christianity, and I've been saved for about 2 months now. In these two months, man has my mind been going crazy. Everytime I think something about Christianity makes sense, something else tells me "no, that can't be possible!"

I definitely feel as if I am under attack. Since I've been a Christian, Jehovas Witnesses came to my door to give me a pamphlet, then they came back and asked for me. Also, a book of Mormon pamphlet showed up in my bedroom (it totally threw me off too, because I had no idea what Mormon was, and the pamphlet mentioned Jesus, and I almost looked into it until my mother explained differently.)

Anyway, I'm rambling. I'd just like to know how to keep Satan out of my mind. I know how to keep Satan out of my everyday life decisions, but I feel as if I have little to no control over the thoughts that go on in my head! (As weird as that sounds.)

Can anybody offer me some insight? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's gone through this. =]

Thanks
Amy
Amy,
Paul wrote down some insight for you in Romans 7 and 8. Though this maybe heavy for you right now, know that even he had the same trouble. Within you church, surround yourself with active members, participate in bible studies, make spending time with God; praying, studying, listening, observing God in all that is around you. As my mentor told me when I first became a Christian,

"Your mind will be filled with something. If you do not fill it with Godly things, it will be filled with worldly things."

and

"Your understanding of God is always moving, either up the mountain (increasing) or down the mountain (decreasing). It is never standing still. If you are not growing, you are shrinking".

These I have come to know is true. When I spend time away from scripture, talking and listening to God, I do find myself farther away from HIM, and the doubt the world takes HIS place.

Know God's Word and then you will be able to discern what His will is (and what is not from Him). Romans 2:12

That pretty much sums it up.

Hi Amy!
I agree with everyone here too. Anytime we draw near to God, Satan opens up alot of side shows.
Negitivity, depression, sickness are all part of the symptoms....
however, not everything can be blamed on Satan. We, ourselves, can be part of the problem. We are capable of making choices of how we will respond to these sideshows or what we bring on our ownselves. In other words, we can "want" people, places and things so strongly that it becomes a negitive/stumbling block between us and God. Pray for God to reveal/search your heart for any thing that may be the problem.
Hope that helps.

I didn't mean to be negative towards myspace, it's just that this is more godly for me now, than myspace. [probably because of the friends I have on there.]

Thanks everyone, you've really added some good avice. I'm gonna try to work through this as best I can!!!

Hi Amy!

That's my little sister's name!

When I gave my life to the Lord, here's what I did: I fell down to my knees and I told Him - here, take it. All of it. Not just my soul, but this life that I'm living now. My heart belongs to you, my thoughts, my emotions, everything that I have and have done, everything that I will do and have done...it's all yours. I reserve nothing for myself, because it has and will always belong only to You. I throw myself upon Your mercy as my Saviour. I give You complete and utter control in my life. I'll no longer tell anybody that I belong to myself...but I belong to You totally.

God is ultimate, my friend. And he protects what is His.

Glad to have you with us!
