SMTM is on a distinguished road
Default Question for serious Christians

Will you be damned for marching into certain death? Knowing you will die but its something you have to do based on principle. I suppose its like suicide in this way. But I'm not sure. Its a difficult question to answer I know and thats why I'm asking it here.

I believe each of us that is born again needs to seek what God would have us do.
Are you a Christian?
If not then know that Jesus dies on the Cross to pay the price that we couldnt pay ourselves for our sin.
He retores us to right relationship with the Father through His Blood, we receive that by faith.
I dont believe God wants us to be canon fodder, He has a call on each of our lives and for some that might men martyrdom, but He graces us for such a time.
Seriously seek Him for the course of your life, ask Jesus Christ to show you, dont rush into anything
God bless.

"Greater love has no man than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

I know Jesus was referring to Himself, here, but I think it also applies generally. Your reference to marching makes me think of war, where one presumably is willing to die for cause. Most acts I have read about are cases where one soldier took a bullet or jumped on a grenade to protect his fellow soldiers. I think this is an application of the above principle. Suicide, on the other hand, is a needless destruction of one's own life for personal reasons. Even suicide, as I have defined it, I don't believe automatically condemns one to hell. But perhaps that is a separate discussion.

Did you have a specific scenario in mind?

SMTM - there is a great difference in dying for a patriotic, military, law enforcement or personal defense reason verses suicide. Suicide is the deliberate premeditated killing of one of God's children, just the same as a murderer would lie in wait to do a criminal homicide and it is covered quite well in the following chapters and verses...

Deuteronomy 19:11-13

related scripture can be found here:
1 John 3:14-17
Genesis 9:5-6

We are instructed in Romans 13:1-3 to follow the orders, statutes and laws of government; which includes military service.

We are also shown in 1 Timothy 5:8 that we are to provide for and take care of our family; which includes personal protection.

Amen x 10. Many are also called to the crown of martyrdom- this is a great honor in the Kingdom of God. To lay down your life for our Lord is love's gift to Him.
