When we pray in church or in our homes we feel good I believe because this is because connect with the Holy Spirit. But when we come out from the church or we go to the world there are people who says things (who are committed to say things) to offend you and to even get satisfaction from it. I believe weather because we are humans or weather some people have shallow faith we get offended and angry and break a commandment or two instantly.
Assume you just pray and you filled with the Holy Spirit and if some one is abusing you on street, How do you protect your self from breaking a commandment? e.g.: There a happy person called “X”, he is happy because he prayed and he is filled with Holy Spirit. He went out and some one on street says / does something to make him angry. What should that person (X) do to not get angry but to keep the joy that he got from the Holy Spirit within him? |

I don't get angry when a stranger does or says something to offend me. They don't know me and their behavior is their issue, not mine. How can you let God's light shine in you if you don't show strangers that you can turn the other cheek? ![]() |

The joy comes from the manifest presence. Do the things that bring you into His presence. Worship, pray, keep God as your focus thru out your day. Express your love for Him and enjoy His for you. You will carry not only His joy but you WILL radiate His presence werever you go.

I gotta be real here. I do not always have joy. I wish I did......but we are humans with a whole array of emotions.
Life will not always allow you to feel joy. There are losses....grief....depression and a myriad of other circumstances that can cause anything BUT joy. It's what makes us human. I for one do not believe that we can constantly feel joy no matter what formula you use to keep it. If we didn't need comfort from time to time....Jesus would not have sent us the Comforter. |

The joy of the Lord is our strenght. It should not be confused with happiness. I have experienced His overpowering joy even when going thru some of my worst trials. Joy is independant of circumstance. Form deep within our spirit this flows until it fills our lives in an overpowering way until it flavors all we do. Are there days when I do not have this joy? Yes. But generally they are days when my focus gets on life and it's problems. Even now as I think of my love for the Lord I feel His joy welling up in me.
1Th 1:5 For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake. 1Th 1:6 And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, welcoming the Word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit, |

Give Yourself To Him Completely Most Christians, at some time in their life, give themselves to God. They will say something like: “Lord, I give you myself for your Holy use”. The problem is that, after that, most of them sit and wait for the Lord to call them or move in their lives. But in truth, it is a standoff of sorts. They are waiting for God to move and God is waiting for them to move. So what does that mean? What it means is that they have not really given themselves to God at all, but instead have made themselves available to him for use at a later date. That is not what God wants. God wants a relationship with you now and he wants all of you. He will never take all of you. In other words, he will never take all of your time unless you choose to freely give it to him. But he requires the commitment. Many Christians hold back because they believe that it is impossible or impractical to give themselves completely to him. They believe that they will need to quit their jobs and follow Him. They believe that they will need to leave their family and friends and follow him. That is not what God wants at all. He doesn’t want you to quit your job. He wants you to take him to the job with you. He doesn’t want you to leave your family and friends. He wants you to share him with your family and friends. He wants to share your life with you and he wants to be with you at all times. What that means is that he wants you to be aware of him and thinking of him and talking to him ALL of the time. You know how you act in church? Good and loving, the concerned and kind Christian. Right? That is the way he wants you to act all of the time. Like you are in church. You can not give yourself to God and then wear your Sunday hat on Sunday and your work-day hat on work days. You need to wear your Sunday hat every day, and that is how you take God to work with you. So, how do we give ourselves completely to God? What will it take to make it happen? You need to sit down and pray to him and make some commitments: 1. You need to make Him number one in your life over EVERYTHING ELSE. 2. You need to put his needs, his wants, above yours. 3. You need to make a commitment to live to be a blessing to him. That means ANYTIME you see an opportunity to bless God you jump on it and do not pass it up. 4. You need to make a commitment to tell him that you love him every time you think about him. 5. You need to talk to him OFTEN throughout your day. You don’t need to pray to talk to him. Just talk to him like he is standing next to you. When it is not convenient to talk to him vocally, talk to him mentally. HE WANTS TO SHARE YOUR LIFE! Be his friend, be his loving child. He is always with you so don’t ignore him, don’t neglect him. “Seek ye first The Kingdom of God…” If you do this, he will take care of everything else. Make him truly number one today. Trust him and love him. |

I agree with Boanerges, that many times worldly happiness is confused with Christian joy. Christian joy is one of the graces which is part of the Devine Natue we received at conversion. It is a blessed virtue dirived from the love we recieved from God. It does not come and go depending on circumstances, as does happiness, even if happiness may sometimes last a long time.
To know we were chosen by God to serve and love Him, is the greatest honor anyone can experience. That in itself is reason enough for our joy. When bad times come our way, that joy is still there to comfort us. It does not go away. Just like our salvation doesn't stop just because persecution, hate, envy, etc. is heaped on us. It is a premanent fixture in Christian life. Repeating, joy is ours because we are in union (part of) with the creator of the universe. If by some chance we are not living in the faith, love and obedience, according to Scripture, we may be fooling ourselves and we may not be partakers of God's Devine Nature, given by His grace. Then when good times comes our ours, happiness is the result, and not joy. But: The Joy of the Lord, which is ours, glories in weakness and tribulation. The apostle Paul displayes this fact in 2nd Corinthians 12:10. "That is why for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficuties. For when I am weak then I am strong." For certain, Paul was the most joyful Christian, next to Christ. Therefore, let us experience the Joy of the Lord in good times and bad. |
