What superstitions have you heard or possibly seen that simply made you laught? I will start this off. I noticed there is no such thing as the 13th deck (level/floor) on any ship. One goes from level 12 to level 14.

in asian culture we cannot point at a full moon else one of our ears would be cut off

My dad served on a LST transport during WW2. THe sailors called them large slow targets. The ships number was 1057 they added the 1, the 5 and the 7 and called her the lucky 13. She was so slow the Captian would go into battle with the life boats half way down but they never took a serious hit- I guess 13 was their lucky number.

Here in South Africa, there is a superstition of a creature called a Tokalosh, who is small evil thing who comes and stabs people from under their beds with his little spear.

Many of the rural people sleep with bricks under the legs of their beds to raise the height of the bed so the Tokalosh cannot reach them.

1. Count the number of stars inside the circle around the full moon, and that is how many days till it rains.
2. When the leaves on the trees turn upside down, it will rain in 3 days.
3. Find a scorpion, centipede, child of the earth or fiddle back spider inside the house, it will rain in 3 days. (I"ve seen this one work!)
4. Dont thank someone for a gift plant, it will die. (mine die anyway!)
5. Letting young children drink coffee will make thier big toe turn black.
