Soul ties, soul mates are all ideas coming from reincarnation. The idea is that we have people (souls) that we are tied to. They will be there with us in some capacity in the next life, and have been with us in past lives as well. A soul mate is the same thing.

I don't believe that is correct. "Soul Mates" are a real phenomana and have a spiritual link. Real soul mates are connected through their common bond with God, through the Holy Spirit.

I have a friend who happens to be a pentecostal minister. He frequently uses this term to refer to someone in people's past that they have had an intimate relationship with. He frequently prays over these folks to break these "ties" as it interferes with current relationships. I personally don't buy it...seems to me all that past stuff was covered by turning to the cross and being washed by the blood of Christ.

...but we should call it something entirely different...

Because you have heard this expression used in a strange situation you have associated it with new age philosophy, when in fact is, it is a noted condition scripturally.
The bible talks about how when a man and woman sleep together they become one, well they dont physically, so it has to be their souls.
All it means is that,
two who have become one,
it can happen also through manipulative relationships, from parents to children and so on.
It means that there is something in the persons soul that has a stronghold linked to another person.
We live in a physical world, but if our eyes were opened to the spiritual activity around us, we would be very shocked.
So 'soul-tie' is just words used to describe the soul linking through a wrong contact of two people,
Hindu's may have turned it into a big part of their religion, but it doesnt stop it being true.
Some things that we have negative conoctations about, we need to ask God to show us the reality of it, but not dwell on it.
We need to be wise of, but not focused on, the devices of the enemy.

'Soul ties' sounds like a term or figure of speech to me.
Anyone can say it or use the phrase...
People use our Father's and Savior's name in vain because they are bad people....

I would use that term to describe my 2nd oldest daughter and myself~

We live 900 miles apart (I think it is) and we can go 3 weeks without talking and pick up the phone to call each other at the very same time.
I know things before she tells me~

Jax.... That is very good advice indeed. I did not know what you guys were talking about and have never heard that expression "soul ties" before so am understanding more what you all are talking about. But I agree with Jax that it is something not to be dwelled on. Let the Holy Spirit be your guide.

Mikey.... I think you got the right idea.... He He ...cute. Some of this is people taking too seriously. Lets focus on Jesus and Him alone and everything else will fall into place.

Soul Ties ... Well I'm not sure. But that is just my opinon.

Havent had time to read everything about soul ties... I probably will tomorrow... I appreciated everyones input... And the web pages as well which I copied and gave to my friend...

It is a new term to me as well...

I don't know how much she knows either...

For her it seems she needs to break ties connecting her to past lovers, abusers, people she had a strong un-healthy bond with in one way or the other... Her desire is to be free from all links that switches her mind into sad, depressing, hurtful, painful feelings that distract her from the Father, Christ and Holy Spirit...

Though she's been a Christian for many years, today she said its been only 2 years ago that she actually understood and accepted the Love of the Father for herself... Because she was severly sexually abused by her father as well as other members of the family...

This year she has grown so much in the Lord, I would say its been a miracle...

The only soul tie she wants is with the Lord...

As soon as I read all the info. you all provided I probably have to break a few myself...

And with that I will bow out of the conversation. I respect and value the opinions of this board, and can see that we will in the end have to agree to disagree on this subject. Since it has no bearing on salvation, I'm okay with leaving it this way.
