I just became aware of something that concern's me deeply. Has anyone read "The Infancy Gospel of Thomas"? This is a book of the childhood of JESUS. I am told it starts out with a story about a 5 year old Jesus making twelve sparrows out of mud, HE then claps his hands and they fly away. Then it goes into other events not so good.

I found a book like this at a yard sale...supposedly, they were the "lost chapters" of the bible.
I started reading them. They didn't sound like anything I had ever heard about, and the prose didn't match the bible. My pastor gave me heck for opening the covers in the first place. He said the devil's out there writing his own bible and trying to mix it with the True Word. Be careful. |

I dont think the bible has left out any essential knowledge that we need for salvation.
The world jumps up and down when it sees the gnostic gospels because it brings area's of doubt to the gospel. The gnostic gospels also are full of legend and myth, which people love to read because it is entertaining. People would prefer to read about magic tricks than the power of the cross.

I study the occult, as one of My specialities, and I have a
couple of coppies, of "The Gosple of Thomas." And the realy sneaky ways of the world, has them quote what seems to be a few reasonable passages from that book, and then they invent all these "Mysteries Of The Bible" type shows, and so on, who also quote these few reasonable sounding quotes, on the surface of it ----but the actual Gospel of Thomas, could not be more new aged it it tried. And no. My copies, are packed away somewhere, so I don't rememer what it says ---other than it's real new age garbage, and if You want to research it at this point for yourself, look on the internet for a complete text of it ---- because in it's entirety, it realy is nothing but the worst kind of new age rubbish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I also skimmed the gospel of Thomas. If these lost books have any truth there may be a good chance that we are also lost.
There is something in the gospel of Thomas that also states something on the idea that Jesus used his powers against some children that were teasing him and he made them die. If anyone is interested I may be able to find them again. But, I do not believe that these lost books represent the Yeshua (Jesus) that I (we) know and love and that who also loves us with Agape love.

I have a number of these books. Actually, I have 3 full collections. One thing that all but one has in common, is the preface (the forth is the Apocrypha books that are in the Catholic Bible, so there is no preface).
Both collections have "valid" books, and "mythological books". One of them present the entire volume as "questionable" and not to be taken as anything more than historical documents. It makes it clear, that they are NOT verifiable, and many have unknown authors, including folk tales passed down from family to family. The last book, is split in two parts. The first part includes supposedly "legit" books. Books translated in the same manner as the KJV, that "supposedly" come from the dead sea scrolls. Scanning through it, the absolutely most interesting book I found was "Laoticia", and it is overly similar to Collosians, and is mentioned in Collosians. The rest, are various letters and such, nothing overly important. The second part of the book is clearly listed as pure mythology. It talks about early life in the Garden of Eden, and Christ's childhood, and many other things that are really just folk tales, and it treats them clearly as such. In other words, you'd be better off reading Cinderella.
