We have very little, so we have nothing to be preoccupied with.
The more you have, the more you are occupied, the less you give.
But the less you have, the more free you are.

Default I found some sayings too

  • Own a clever goat by all means, but make sure you can outwit it.
  • The proper person to remove the bell should be the one who originally tied it on.
  • Anger is as a stone cast into a wasp's nest.
  • As the big hound is, so shall the puppy be.
  • If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape a hundred days of sorrow.
  • Not to worry, nor to fret, all is well but not just yet.

There can be no doubt that possessive clinging to things is one
of the most harmful habits in the Christian life. Because it is
so natural, it is rarely recognized for the evil that it is. But
its outworkings are tragic.

The Jews tried to keep Christ contained within their law, while the Greeks sought to turn Him into a philosophy; the Romans made of Him an empire; the Europeans reduced Him to a culture, and we Americans have made a business of Him.

Jesus of Nazareth, without money and arms, conquered more millions than Alexander the Great, Caesar, Mohammed, and Napoleon; without science and learning, he shed more light on things human and divine than all philosophers and scholars combined; without the eloquence of school, he spoke such words of life as were never spoken before or since, and produced effects which lie beyond the reach of orator or poet; without writing a single line, he set more pens in motion, and furnished themes for more sermons, orations, discussions, learned volumes, works of art, and songs of praise than the whole army of great men of ancient and modern times.
–Philip Schaff

Fundamentally, our Lord's message was Himself. He did not come merely to preach a Gospel; He himself is that Gospel. He did not come merely to give bread; He said, "I am the bread." He did not come merely to shed light; He said, "I am the light." He did not come merely to show the door; He said, "I am the door." He did not come merely to name a shepherd; He said, "I am the shepherd." He did not come merely to point the way; He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." --J. Sidlow Baxter
