I've been wondering if everyone gets a chance to know the Lord. What if someone dies, and because of their surroundings, never even knew about him? Would they be innocent in a certain way and be able to go to heaven? On the same note, what about us Christians who are committing some "small" sins that we TRUELY don't know are sins?

As far as infants, many churches preach about an age of accountability. It is an age where we are able to understand about sin and the need for repentance, and salvation in general. Some churches place an actual numerical age on this, but I believe that it differs for each individual. That being said, if we die before that age, then we are not held accountable for our sins.
As far as committing sins that we may not know are sins..... if we do something and are completely unaware that it is wrong or a sin, and we have studied God's word and not allowed ourselves to be ignorant, yet perchance we have accidentally transgressed in some minor grey area sort of way...... then I do not believe it will be held against us, because our heart and intentions were pure, and God knows our hearts. As far as people who have been isolated and never had a chance to know about God or Jesus...... I believe that these types are extremely rare, and so speaking of them is such a hypothetical that it is almost not worth speaking of. Additionally, I believe that we all have a pull within us to a higher power, so even isolated individuals would know, even if they were never told the truth. But, hypothetically, if an individual, such as one of these children who are locked in a cage in a locked room and never spoken to, nor given any human contact..... if one of them were to die, then I do not believe they would be held accountable. Their parents are a different story. |

But.. that age of accountability varies from church to church. What would be the concrete age, if there was one?
Further, that's a little... big of those churches, to make such a decision. At this point, I'm hoping the kids just go to heaven, but... No real way to tell, huh? |
