Excellent advice, Violet!!!!
...and be sure that you believe that you have already been granted this power over evil when you go through your house saying this. Believe in your heart, your soul, mind, body...that God is with you. Because he really is! Feel him all around you, have no doubt when you cast evil out of your home. It must obey.

Pastor Gary, you bring up a very interesting point.
Annointing oil was also very ofter fragrant. When a person would receive an annointing, the preist would annoint with the oil in the sign of the cross. Later in the day, the fragrance would diminish, and by re-touching those places, (The sign of the cross) the oil on ones fingers would revitalize the fragrance of the oil, and remind the person of their blessing. That's how we came about the tradition of crossing ones self as a reminder of Gods Blessing. |

I was going to say the same thing. And if you go around the house on each door post put some of that oil and pray and cover the room with the Blood of Jesus. Any spirits have to flee when the Blood is applied.

Again, as with the water, it is not the oil that holds the power but God and faith. My understanding is that the fragrant oils were used more after Christ's resurrection, and that very little information on that is contained in the New Testament. (James 5:14) Most of these practices came later in the Church. Olive and pure oils were more often used in healings, and often with wine. Mark 6:13 Luke 10:34 Interesting isn't it. The wine contains alcohol, an anticeptic. And the oil helps to keep out contaminents, dust, etc. |

In Exodus 30:22-33 (KJV), God gave Moses a specific formula for Anointing Oil... However, God gave an admonition NOT to reproduce the exact formula or use it on ordinary humans as strictly told in Exodus 30:32-33 (KJV).
Regular Extra Virgin Olive Oil is all that is needed, but if a fragrance is used, it should be added BEFORE the oil is blessed. A very small amount of Cinnamon added to the olive oil before blessing will give it a hearty, traditional mid-east fragrance. |
