The acids and minerals in the tomato's juice and the starches, fat, enzymes, yeast and protein in the cheese probably combined in the high heat. IF it was hot enough and the aluminum foil started to actually vaporize it's surface, the combination of those three components is very similar to a very early NASA rocket fuel.
Aluminum oxide, hydrochloric acid, yeast as a primitive oxidizer and animal fat as a stabalizer was a fairly effective propellant in the very early small scale German and American rocketry experiments. BOOM!! |
