I had a great-grandmother who was able to heal the sick by putting hands on them. But then again it wasn't her, only God working through her

My grandmother had a sister who died aboard ship while crossing the Atlantic ocean...My grandfather was a pilot in the Army Air Corps (I loved his stories)

Rumored on my dads side of the family : my grandfather had another family in Utah...he's spend 6 months there and 6 months with my grandma. There is supposedly someone who was hanged for stealing horses...no name given

True: My dad was forced into the Army in the 60's by a judge who gave him a choice between jail & the service...(He has great stories too)

My Dh's family has a much richer past...His father is the great- grandson of a very important person in the NWMP (that's the original RCMP)(that's a cool story...provable too!)...He (my FIL) is also the son of someone who was too old to serve in WWII! When he was born his father was in his 60's! His (my FIL) great-grandparents saw Lewis & Clark...The expedition camped on their property!!!! On my MIL side, her father worked with Tom Mix before he became famous...Her Aunt was killed by the mob in Vegas...
Oh I love these stories!

One of my relatives was one of the people who helped raise the flag at Iwo Jima.
I am very interested in family history as well. I should make it a personal task to find out about mine. I am afraid I will find, though, that I am just as boring as I think I am.

I was able to trace my ancestors back to Bainbridge England.
It took me 4 years because I had to double check, triple check, all the info and I needed evidence.
Luckily I went to my grandmother's sisters house and she pulled out even more to confirm all I had found.....including handwritten letters!
It was so neat to see it all come together.

My cousin was speaking with a family history focus group last year. He has a sense of humor, so he saw an opportunity and ran with it.

One person in the group mentioned that he had a Great, Great Uncle that goes back to King Henry the Eighth.

My cousin spoke up and said, "That's Nothing. I have a broken washing machine that goes back to Sears on the tenth..."
