for some it should be rephrased, "In Money We Trust" because money is their god.

It's a reminder as we 'render unto Caesar' that we should also render unto God what is His.

I love it that we put that statement on our money. It reminds us in Whom we have our security and Whose strength and grace sustains us. Not to mention where our treasure ought to be. Sadly, this nation has become arrogant, trusting in its own strength, and we already see the resulting decay. The pressure is on to remove that motto, because many refuse to humbly acknowledge their dependence upon His mercy and goodwill.

because of what God has done for His people in the past, ie fulfilling many promises and bringing to pass many prophecies, therefore I can trust Him in the future. John Piper has written a lot about this in his book Future Grace.
