Default Why Thanking God For ALL Things is So Important

This event happened a long time ago, but i still just wanted to post it for you guys to show you just what happens when you obey.

It was close to the end of the best church revival i had ever experienced. a group called Life Action came down and had a two-week long revival at my church. that night we talked about thanking and praising God for everything in our lives, good or bad. well, that very night i had an awesome experience.

okay, it was that night and i was just finnished talking with some of the life action members. it was getting late so i called my grandpa to let him know i might be late. he told me he wanted me there by 10:00 pm. okay, that's 15 minutes, time enough to get home. so i hop in my truck, turn the key, and it won't crank up. okay, now my heart's kind of beating hard. wow. lol, i was scared. i ran and grabbed a friend of mine (he's an electrician and i had worked with him a bit over the summer). he came in, couldn't figure out what the problem was, so, he stuck a screw driver to a catho-wutever and my battery and jumped it off that way. okay, GREAT! it cranked! so i hop in again, say thanks and all, put her in drive, press the gas....and it makes this horrible grinding sound, and it won't go anywhere. i put it in reverse and it works fine, but drive, nope.

i try my best to figure it out, nothing. so i do what i REALLY didn't want to do...i call my grandpa. of course i get the five-minute-cuss-out, but he says he'll be there in a minute. so he drives up there, but on the way there, i just humbled myself and told God, "thank you for whatever you're about to do. i don't know what it is, but thank you."

So my grandpa drives up, all mad. walks around the truck, hops in, looks around...pulls off the emergency brake :|...cranks up the truck, and cusses at me, "if you think you can drive the dern truck, then drive it." (course he didn't say dern). now i feel like a complete idiot. i never use the emergency brake, i just turned it on b/c Charles (the electrician) told me to. i'm all fired up, and i did the wrong thing, as i got in the truck i mumbled just load enough for him to hear me, "it's not like anyone else could have made the same mistake". i get in and drive back home, angry, so mad.

as i get out of the truck (we both get home bout the same time) and start to walk back inside the house, my grandpa stops me outside and says, "I'm sorry i yelled at you. anyone could have made that mistake. it's okay." i didn't actually do this, but in my mind i was...mouth wide open, totally shocked. my grandpa has NEVER done that before and i knew it. our relationship has never been good because i don't take anything from anyone and i'll be the first to stand up for that which is right against all odds. i simply am not afraid of man, for what can MAN do to me?

guys, if you thank God for everything and anything, it brings your relationship with him to a closer point, which brings you more freedom, and him more freedom in your life to give you the gifts and blessings he has promised he would.

God Bless and In him,

Eric wright

Eric.... that is great story and yes we are told to have a thankful heart whether in the good or the bad. In everything give thanks. We live in such great countries and should be thankful that we don't have to wake up with a bomb hitting our place and carrying our loved ones away on stretchers like in the middle east. And as you guys Thanksgiving is coming up the end of Nov.... what a great time to remember God's goodness to us. Although of course we should remember all year round. Blessing to you Eric.

Colossians 3:15
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

We enter His gates with thanksgiving in our hearts and enter His courts with praise- thanksgiving is one of the things that usher us inot His presence and should be a continual part of our day!

Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice.
Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice.

Rejoice, Rejoice, again I say rejoice.
