Just in case it has not had preventive maintenance - locate the MASS AIR SENSOR in the snorkle between the air filter box and the throttle body. It will have a wiring harness plugged into it and will be held in place with 3 or 4 NUMBER 20 - SECURITY TORKS HEAD SCREWS. Remove the screws and the plug. Lift it out of the snorkel carefully. There are some very small sensor wires attached to the underside of the module. Do NOT break those wires. Inspect them because if they get carbonized or have junk on them from dust getting past the air filter, they will not do any sensing. Take an Electrical Contact Spray Cleaner and blast the sensor wires but DO NOT touch them or brush them.
Reinstall and test. If this module is full of carbon, the computer will not get a proper velocity input and the engine will have no low end power and may stall frequently. ALSO - you may have an IDLE AIR MOTOR and damper not closing all the way at idle. THIS will create a lean idle mixture from the injectors and can also cause immediate stalling. However, THAT ONE is for a professional to deal with in cleaning or replacing. |
