Hmmm .... That means sometimes the brain works
![]() ![]() Did you know that God released us to give back generously. Well, what do I mean ? Glad you asked. Much has been written or said about this subject , but the best place to look is in the Bible. Both the OT and New teach that generosity is a way of life for us as Christians. When it comes to money ,..... (and I know I am opening up a can of worms here) we can't take it with us.---- But we can send it on ahead. Did you get that ? let me repeat it...... but we can send it on ahead. Scripture teaches us we are to store up our treasures in our true home...... HEAVEN. The single greatest obstacle to generous giving is the illusion that this world is really our home. We cling so tightly to our wealth on earth because we worry about building security here.. The truth of the matter is that we are only pilgrims passing through and that we are stewards of God's great riches. A verse in Deut. chapter 8 reminds us that although we may say," My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me", it is He who gives us the ability to produce this wealth. Jesus says to us " Give and it will be given to you, a good measure , pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For the measure that you use , it will be measured to you " THen in the book of 2 Cor., Paul writes of the Macedonian church that " OUt of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up rich generosity.Fot I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability.' The Macedonians are to be our model for the release we receive when we give back generously. They show us that generosity is to be initiated by grace; it is to be a supernatural kind of giving. It is to transcend difficult circumstances. To be done with joy. Not hindered by poverty. It is to be proportionate and sacrificial.. It is to be sought as a priviledge not an obligation. It is part of worship. It is to prove our love to God, to His church and His people. THAT IS GENEROUS GIVING !!

Proverbs 11:25
A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed...... The acts of generous natures instilled by God become easy when we remember that we have belongs to God. It is the thing which all generous believers understand. We shovel it out and God shovels it in........... Jesus promises that God will take of generous givers. We will be given back in measure of generosity we used in giving in the first place. In Luke 6:38 Jesus made that promise to us. Generous people are not necessarily those with large bank accounts, but with a large view of God. |

Quote:
Generous people love to serve God and those who don't have too much are the ones who are the most giving . Maybe they don't have but they are willing to give and serve and give their time to the Lord.

2 Corinthians 9:11
You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. And because our Thanksgiving is this weekend, I am reflecting on the goodness of the Lord this week . I know, I should be reflecting all year and I do but this being Harvest time., I want to honour Him the Lord of the Harvest for He has been good to me. His generosity has been beyond measure and I am so glad that I am a child of the KIng.

Wow, I can't believe the Lord's generosity.
Today , I went to Curves and they said I had won two prizes. I said no .... not me . Yes . On Saturday there was a raffle and the proceeds went to the local woman's shelter. I put my tickets in the little jars and forgot about it. Well , to my surprise..... I won a basket full of goodies ... women's stuff and those shoes that everyone is wearing. And then the other prize was a beautiful fall wreath to hang on my door. I was almost too embarrassed to walk out with all my loot. God is so good . I can't begin to tell you. Praise His name. !! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
