Do you think we will remember our former life hear on earth after we go to heaven? Are there any bible verses that back this up?
The only ones I can think of are when King Saul had a witch call upon the spirit of Abraham, obviously Abraham had remembered Saul. I also recal reading a story where Jesus was standing with Elijah and Moses (I think it was those two) |

I remember a verse I had heard a long time ago saying that we will remember each other as we knew each other on earth. I don't know how in depth that gets, but "logically" it seems we should retain at least some memories. Possibly not ones that would make us sad, i think I've also heard that as well.
Guess my point is that if it is possible to be punished or rewarded based on our actions here on Earth, the we must retain some memory of it. Otherwise, you wouldn't know why you were even being punished/rewarded.

1Co 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
If we are known for who we and we know others then we must retain our memories. |

The 'rich man' seemed to remember.
Luk 16:19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: Luk 16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, Luk 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. Luk 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; Luk 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Luk 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. Luk 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. Luk 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Luk 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: Luk 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Luk 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. Luk 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. Luk 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Quote:
And I think the other was the Tranfiguration? To answer the question; yes I think we will remember or "Know" as in ICor 13:12. Jesus said he will wipe away our tears ....let me look that up..... Rev 7:17-for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will sheperd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. I personally believe that means wiping the things that caused us to cry, in sadness, pain, hurt... I believe we will know who everyone is even if we have never met personally on earth. Hope that helps

Taking the words from the KJV back to Hebrew as found in Ezekiel 44:20-26 (KJV) we see that we, as the elect, will be able to go to our family members who were not believers and teach them during the millenium. If we can go to teach them, we surely must be able to recognize them - even in spiritual bodies.
Remember, Ezekiel Chapter 40 to the end of the Book takes place in the Millenium and is prophesy. The only penalty that we pay for being in the presence of our relatives and teaching them on the far side of the Gulf *, is to be ceremonially unclean for 7 days. [* Gulf: Luke 16:26 (KJV) - also look at the same text in Luke 16:26 (NLT) for english clarity. Gulf (KJV) = chasm (NLT)] |
