Every now and then, this thought comes into my mind and it reels me...
I'm on the earth, and if I were somehow able to pull back, the earth would become a blue dot in the solar system. The solar system would become a dot in the galaxy. The galaxy would become a dot in a cluster. The cluster would become a speck in a cloud of clusters, galaxies that the human mind can't even begin to think about. And they say that's not all...string theory and web theory suggest that there might be more universes out there; countless infinities besides our own, drifting in and out of each other and occasionally colliding to form new universes. Microscopic bubbles in the endless sea. There's chaos and order, fire that's infinite-hot and cold far icier than our meger definitions of it. There are massive stars that have been crushed down to microscopic pinpricks and suck in everything that drifts too close. There are wide expanses of peaceful, glowing gases. Some say that if you pull back far enough from these worlds, galaxies, clusters, clouds and universes...they all become an atom in a blade of grass on a new world. Imagine that! Besides the atom that we are a part of, there are billions of trillions of others in that same blade of grass. And each one of those atoms is more universes, more possibilities, more variations in the laws of physics, more... And there's an entire field of grass...beautiful in God's light. But then again...you could pull back away from that world and it might become a blue speck in a solar system all its own... It boggles me. Here's why...in all of that, God keeps His order. He makes stars, destroys them, makes sure that each universe follows its laws of physics, and if there are other beings out there and they're praying to him, he's listening to them all. In each blade of grass, he knows ever star, every galaxy, ever meteor, every rock, every planet, every being, every thought, every heart. Who am I? Who am I that he notices my prayers? Who am I that He loves me so much? The creator of the universe, the Lord of all Creation...who am I? I accept His mercy and love as someone who doesn't deserve it. I'm humbled at His endless might and wisdom. He is higher than any king or judge or police officer or president or emperor that we've ever known. He is God. And He knows me. Me! ![]() He knows you, too. ![]() God bless. |
