Default Stop trying to improve it

We spend much time catering to our flesh, pursuing our goals and following our plans. In truth that is not God's way- His command is to die to that old self not to build it up. If we lay down our lives and pick up our cross - daily embracing death to our own desires and putting His will and plans above all we will find that the person we sometimes wish to become will be looking at us in the mirror.

What I find most difficult is finding the balance of coming from a selfist, materialistic, self-idolotrous society to embracing it's antithesis. Not neglecting carnal duties (career, providing, taxes, being a productive member of society), yet totally and soley devoted to holiness, and crucifying the flesh.

If my life could ask a question it would be: "Where does the unearthly/radical-spiritual and the productive/responsible-physical meet?"

It meets in the following phrase " do all things unto the Lord" and also this " seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, then all these things will be added unto you." I excelled in every job I put my hand to but first hings first- make sure you are where God wants you for no place else will do. God had placed me in a most diifcult job full of most difficult people but over the years He used to to minister to and reach many.
Back to the second quote seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, then all these things will be added unto you." A funny thing happens when you seek God and His will first- the things you want began to change and conform to His will. Blessings one and all!

I felt like you were talking directly at me. I still need to lay down a lot of things in my life...

That can be said of all of us brother- it is indeed a marvelous adventure to find oneself in Christ and when we see it in that light letting go of the old bescomes much easier but never a natural thing to do. We are like the oxen the Philistine lords choose to take the Ark of God back to Israel- every natural instinct was leading them back to their stalls where their new calves lay. But there was a stronger pull on them- serving God by bringing back the Ark to it's resting place would cost them their lives- still they pressed on moaning as they went. There was a reason the alter had horns on it as the freshly offered flesh would flail around as the searing heat triggered it's nerve endings to fire. Embracing the cross- death is the path to life!
