O.o He ate it! That's hilarious!!
Imagine how awesome it was when I unlocked the RROD achievement. I mean, seriously, I was so excited I called Xbox to let them know how happy I was. And the representative was so nice, she just had to see if for herself. Man, it was so cool, I'll never forget it.

My precious Xbox 360 died after I have had it for only 4 months. It's currently in the shop getting repaired. Most likely I get it back in about another 2-4 weeks according to Microsoft.
The RRoD = Red Ring Of Death. There is a little ring on the Xbox that has 4 quadrants. It lets you know how many people are connect to play games. When the system fails (due to a fatal design flaw of the system's heat-syncs) three of those greet lights turn red and flash. At which point, you become the proud owner of a $450 brick. The achievement is a cool feature the WORKING xbox's have that tracks various accomplishments while playing games. Say, beat 10 levels in Pacman and you get an achievement. So, I'm being satirical by saying that I unlocked the RRoD achievement.

... My friend told me about it a while back, I thought he was joking when he said that EVERY Xbox 360 will break down within a year of purchase!!!
But then I just HAVE to play Ace Combat 6, so I'm getting one anyway!!

M$ says it's within the normal failure rate (2-3%), but various sources suggest that it's actually between 10% and 35%. Basically, the heatsyncs aren't sufficient, and aftermarket fans often make the problem worse. Many, many people have had great luck with their systems. I thought buying a system a year and a half after launch meant they worked out the problems.
New systems have additional heat syncs to take care of this problem, so I'm hoping when I get mine back I don't have to send it back again in a few months. I've heard stories of people that have had horrible luck, sending in 7+ xboxes. Microsoft used to be really bad about repairs as well. Charging $140 per repair. After pressure from the market, they finally waived that, extended the warranties to 3 years, and refunded everyone's money.
