I wonder how many people went to seminary full of faith only to have it shipwrecked by professors so emerged in factual detail but no knowlegde of faith?The letter withouth the Spirit stills kills. I personally know several who when attending traditional mainstream "bible colleges" came out as crippled and disfunctional chrsitians. As a friend said- " they teach mercy but give none"! the old addage you are what you eat can be applied in spiritual terms as well. No matter how lofty the goal when you take God's Spirit out of the mix all you wind up with is the rotting, stinking works of mans corrupt flesh- what a tragedy.

Indeed. I think I have said this before but I went to a Bible College where we studied what the bible says about us. What a blessing. I then went on to a Theological College where it seemed as though the focus was on what people said about the bible. Not a blessing. Give me God's perspective every time. Had I not previously had my time at Bible College my faith would have been dented.

Remember in grade school when we were tought about Eli Whitney's invention ,the cotten gin???
It revolutionized the north american continent in that it enabled tons of cotten to be cleaned efficiently.

After being aced out of his rightful prosparity by imitators of this simple machine he with less acclaim become the father of mass procuction(The assembly line )as we probibly better know it today.

Before Eli's restructuing of the manner which muskets (Guns,weapons, rifles)were assembled, ( Individualy by hand, one at a time, by one person, pains takingly making and fitting each peice)each musket bore the craftsmonship of the one who built it.
Sure many more could be made in the same time period by the assembly line method but everything has it's price.
Quality gave way to quantity as the standard by which it's value was determined.
There is a natural counter balance to quality VS quantity. That natural balance is interupted by mass production methods.
Two things happened. The indiviual musket 's quality become secondary and accountability for it went out the window.
Why am I bringing this up????
Because the same stands true for semonary and or bible colleges, church congregations and discipleship today.
Cookie cutter christianity is upsurding the process and taking people from the right destination ,not to it.

When buffet(Smorgus board) Ala carte Christianity is added to the mix it even gets worse.
Every christian without question these days can pick and choose the type of "Christian" faith, study, involement, activity they desire. the problem with this is that without the one true counselor (The holy spirit ) who knows where they are going or where they will end up , Eternaly???

A world conditioned to change.

If laundry detergent, tooth paste and automobiles were improved as claimed every time there is a change, we would be blinded by smiles and perfectly santized people who would be as Jonithan Livingston Seagull (the bird in the book by the same name), where we wanted mearly by thinking we are there.

The simple truth is the same old story. Ever heard it said; If it's new it ain't true and if it's true it ain't new"????
That statement is no more true than when spoken of the Gospel.
You can get them into the church with trinkets, bobbles, programs speals, hooks, angles features, sales pitches, pshycology and emotional pleas but if you think that your getting them to christ with all that, the stats are proving you wrong.

Our father in heaven sent His only begotten Son so that he could communicate with us personaly and left the Holy Spirit to continue in that.

Mass produced leaders with secular tactics isn't anywhere near being the proper way to spread the gospel.

What to do????

Peronaly and individualy get back to the basics and stay there.

Theology kills faith - I agree - I know plenty of ministers who know the bible back to front and can argue theology till they're blue in the face - but do they know God's love and actually put their faith in him - nope.
Theology forgoes the need to rely on God, instead it teaches man to rely on his own knowledge.
