You won't want to miss this- it was filmed in St Bernard Parish as the outer portions of Katrina came ashore:

My firewall will not allow me to view any video presentations here for security reasons, but this type of video should not have been taken at all. When MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDERS are given by the local and regional government officials, it is absolutely imperative that those orders be followed. When the northeast quadrant of Katrina came ashore near the Louisiana/Mississippi border area, there was a 22 foot storm surge, 33 foot waves on top of that and sustained winds at 146 MPH with gusts to near 160 MPH, from Slidell, Louisiana, all the way over to east of Gulfport, Mississippi.
Anyone foolish enough to REMAIN in a coastal area with a hurricane such as Katrina knocking on the door is asking for trouble and shows little respect for one's own self and family. |
