Default Ten Commandments

Although as christians we do not live by the law these are non the less an excelent guideline for anyone:
"And God spoke all these words, saying: 'I am the LORD your God…

ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.'

TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.'

THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.'

FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.'

FIVE: 'Honor your father and your mother.'

SIX: 'You shall not murder.'

SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.'

EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.'

NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.'

TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.'

Jesus our Lord put all these togeather for us:

Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:36-40).

If we do these two things we have demonstarted God's love and done them all.

Do Christians do anything to keep or observe the Sabbath? The rules for the Sabbath are actually very strict in the OT.

In a word- no- Jesus is our sabbath rest- it is in Him we seek God, it is in Him we rest from our own works- it is in Him we are pleasing and acceptable to our heavenly Father. The old testiment was Christ concealed and the new is Christ revealed!

If you think that is strict - you should read the oral law of the Jews - it's unbelievable. (Mishna)

Paul said that if you fail to keep one point of the law you are guilty of all. No one has ever kept the last one - except the Lord Himself.

I guess I'm still confused. Do you think Jesus wants us to observe the Sabbath in the way the OT describes, or does it not matter? The Sabbath was set up as a day to pay respects to God and the rest He had on the seventh day after the six days of creation. I don't know why it would no longer be necessary to do that because Jesus came down.
