Hearing from God

This is a question not a debate!
How do you know when you are hearing from God?
Over the years I believe that the Lord has spoken to and guided me in many different ways. I am interested in how He has guided and spoken into your life.
Again please do not turn this thread into a debate just share your own personal experiences.

I am one of those people who can doubt my own decisions sometimes.

I have never heard God's 'voice' speak to me but he has spoken to my heart and when he does, not only is all doubt lifted, but I have a peaceful comfort that comes over me; An assuredness I feel so strongly that I know it is God speaking to me!
Even in praying for others I have felt a warmth pour over me, or an electrifying feeling.

When God speaks it is not something I here or know in my head but it is an impression that wells up deep in my spirit- it is becomes something that I know that I know-

Joh 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Duh I could of had a V8.

Sometime it's like that. You know when your so involved seeking the answer then all of a sudden you realized He was putting in front of your face and you just weren't getting it.

Sometimes He stomps my toes, bruses my hip. Jacob was the first but certianly not the last to wrestle with the God till dawn.

He has put a thorn in my flesh.

Sometimes He slams doors in my face or opens doors that I could never open on my own.

Sometimes he holds me in a head lock and forces me to see that which I don't want to see.

Sometimes He lets me linger where I want to be and take in all that I want or need to see.

Sometimes He shows me the good the bad and the Ugly (not the movie)

Sometimes he scares me and other times he craddles my aching heart in His hands.

He carries me when im too tired to walk.
Sometime he slows me down when I'm going too fast or speeds me up whem I'm too slow.

He places just the right people in just the right place, at just the right time to help or comfort me
And sometimes he does the same with me to aid or comfort others.

He answers my private prayers.

He has put me face down on my own private Damascus road and shown me what Jonah saw.

Mostly though, He speaks straight to my head from my heart.

I guess, for me anyway, it's not so much noticing when I'm hearing from him as it is when for some reason I feel that I'm not. That is what truely concerns me.

The way i know if it from Him is that ultimately when it is from Him I am better for it.

I think God is always helping us, and has been from the beginning. It is only when we search for him that we notice it.

I asked for help and I believed I received it. I felt like I was so close to God when he reached out to help and it was the greatest experience of my life.

It is difficult to explain how I know it was God, but I just did.
