Luther
Shadowlands (Anthony Hopkins as C.S. Lewis and Debra Winger as Joy Gresham, the woman Lewis married and loved until her death) Something To Sing About - http://www.somethingtosingabout.com/about.asp (not a bad movie from the Billy Graham Evangelism Association) Narnia Lord of The Rings Trilogy The ORIGINAL TEN COMMANDMENTS (directed by Cecil B. DeMille) - not the revised one done approx 3 years ago. ----- And don't forget --- Those 1950's 'British Jesus' movies always shown on television at Christmas and Easter where everyone talks in American but Jesus speaks in Old English KJV1611 Shakespearean Prose - The Mystery Science Theater 3000 guys need to take these movies on, that would be funny. ----- Even though the Matrix movies are not Christian, these movies helped me see the effects of abusive groups and helped me transition into a more Reformed viewpoint of faith. Watch them from a philosophical viewpoint instead of an action viewpoint next time and think about everything. It will make you go HMMMMMMMMMMMMM........

I am really appreciative of this list. I would like to build a collection of Movies of inspiration. Maybe that is why I am not a movie watcher. Now, theses movies are not about God or the Bible but still wholesome movies and probably more suitable for children and women~ Anne of Green Gables Little House on The Prairie series I still love Lassie and Old Yeller!

This is fantastic! Thanks to all of you so much! I pretty much know my collection inside and out (I'm one of those guys that can name any movie once it starts...even if all that's showing is a black screen, some music, and random names popping up on the intros...drives my friends nuts!).
I do have Narnia and The Lord of the Rings--however those never struck me as spiritual or uplifting. I belong to the Indian Shaker Religion (Native American - bible-based religion, very intense), and we're taught to reject things that are magical like wizards and witches. But if my brothers and sisters here see the message in these movies, I'm going to give those another viewing. I also have Prince of Egypt on VHS. After digging around over the weekend, I also found: The Ten Commandments (musical - with Val Kilmer as Moses). I also accidentally stumbled on another movie over the weekend about a teacher who choses to teach in Harlem and never gives up on his students even though they try to run him out. He teaches them that they (the class) are a family, and his goal is to show them that they're bright and gifted students. I believe the name of this movie is the John Clark Story? Thanks for the ideas and suggestions, you're all so wonderful! ![]() |

Chronicles of Narnia is indeed very Christian in its message, if you consider that Aslan (The Lion) is a type of saviour (Christ), in that he lays down his own life in order to save the life of one of the two boys.
He is then resurrected and defeats the powers of evil! It's a pretty good movie. Check out a film called "In the beginning" starring Martin Landau and directed by Kevin Connor. It tells the story of Genesis and Exodus. It's really good. I like King of Kings, Greatest story ever told, The ten commandments, The robe, Nativity Story, Time Life's King David, Prince of Egypt, The passion of the Christ. Samson and Delilah. One film that I aim to watch soon is "The gospel of John" starring Christopher Plummer. It is only available from America on region 1 dvd, but it is getting some great reviews. There are so many other films out there as well that I have't got around to watching yet. Best of luck discovering these hidden gems |

Something I saw last night on TBN...
'The Cross and Two Towers' http://www.thecrossandthetowers.com/ This is an awesome documentary of the World Trade Centers and the story that was told by numberous survivors. I recommend this to everyone, even if you are not in America. This shows that God is in every situation, no matter how devistating. God bless, Johnathan

I saw the Nativity Story last night for the first time. I know that it's only a depiction of our Lord Jesus, but just seeing his tiny hands in the manger made me beam, lifted me up, and I cried.
Those tiny hands were real, they were really here on this planet. And when the wiseman said "God made into flesh!" It struck home, the purpose that was before this precious baby. The suffering that he would endure for me. The joyful messages he would deliver, which would eventually reach my ear. Praise Jesus! Thanks for that suggestion in this forum. I'm truly grateful. I love watching movies like this, movies that lift me up and make me see the separate events that are happening in my life as a whole, rather than random acts. |

The nativity story is a great film. It is nice to see an entire film dedicated to the birth of Jesus Christ, about the miracles and the life of Josph and Mary.
It sticks very close to scripture and is very uplifting. |
