I was there about 15 years ago. What stuck in my mind were the vultures circling in the thermals above the VAB (vertical assembly building). They were like litle dots way up there!

We visited there from England two years ago, just before Katrina had struck below us
It was the hottest summer had known for a while, even the residents were saying it was worse than usual. An amazing experience but I remember the heat more than anything, and literally having to lay down on the bench in one of the buildings! Can anyone tell me how to post pics without causing a direct link to my whole album??? |

A very good vantage point for launches is in Cocoa Beach right on the beach at Wilson Park near Ivy Avenue and Highway A1A.
Make sure you have a tripod for your camera because the pressure wave from the engines and supersonic shock wave can disrupt your hand held camera shots. |
