Dear Dusty,

May God be with you!

I respect your opinions. But do you never give a compliment to your spouse or parents because our God is a jealous God? Do you never pray for them because they should take care of any prayer needs they have ONLY directly through God and not with your help?

To pray/ ask for help and thank your guardian angel reflects on the Goodness that God provides us through our angels. It all glorifies God.

And I never said anything about worshiping angels! I'm only talking with mine. Prayer can take many forms and worship is one of them but so is simple dialog.

And while talking with your guardian angel may not be specifically in the Bible, not everything is in the Bible and THAT teaching is biblical.

God bless you.

God bless you.

Giving compliments to each other is on a different level than talking to God. Of course I give compliments to people every day but I do not understand what that has to do with talking to angels. My family are not angels

They are people formed in the likeness of God.

The Word of God is my plumline and if it is not there then there has to be a reason that God did not put it there. He tells us there is one God and prayers are to be directed to Him and Him alone.

I understand where you are coming from but if there is nothing in the Bible about praying to angels , then I would not do it. As I said before. angels are heavenly beings and not to be worshipped and by praying to them that is a form of worship.

I thank God because he has given me angels to watch over me but all my praise and adoration goes to God and nowhere else.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord shine His countenence upon you and give you peace.

Exodus 20:5
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me

Exodus 34:14
Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

Deuteronomy 4:24
For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

Deuteronomy 5:9
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

First of all Dusty I agree with all you have said! And CatholicWifeandMom I have a great of respect for your sound belief in the Catholic Doctrine. That’s just the deal you both are in dispute of the points of system of belief’s that pertain in each of your faith. I honestly don’t think that you two can come to an agreement.

Thankyou Pastor Rick. I just want to apologize if I have said anything to upset CatholicWifeandMom and will now move on as I have thought about it and I will just agree to disagree and leave it there for God to decide. Hope I haven't caused any hard feelings.

God bless. Love,
Dusty

The bible does not give us every detail to this I agree BUT the bible does give us everything we need pertaining to life and godliness- adding anyhting else may be superfluous but acceptable BUT (yes another but) God never contradicts His Word and we are told specifically that we have only one intercessor between us and God- we are told not to bow down to any graven (carved images) (this is one of the original ten commandments some churches have replaced beacuse it clashed with their later established doctrines)- we are told to pray to and worship God alone. There is no disrespect intended here but I will have to side with the Word of the Living God over the traditions of man any day- I hope this is received in the spirit it was intended- not to chastic but to inform- blessings brother Larry

God bless you all!

No apologies needed. You are all so very polite and I really appreciate that knowing some doctrinal differences we have.

Prayer seems to be thought only as worship with some. For Catholics, prayer can be worship but it can also be a conversation with no worship at all.

For example one prayer is the Guardian Angel prayer:

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here. Ever this day be at my side to light and guard to rule and guide.

One other thought to throw out there is the Body of Christ. For Catholics, the WHOLE body is more than just those on earth...it also includes those in Heaven, those being purged for heaven.

The part of the body in Heaven is the Church Triumphant. They are with God and rejoicing.

The part of the body getting ready for Heaven is the Church Suffering. This suffering is but a passage of purification so that they may enter Heaven pure. (nothing impure goes into heaven)

The part of the body here on earth is the Church Militant. That's us! I really like this title because it IS a spiritual war here on earth. Our love and forgiveness of each other makes us strong against the enemy/satan. Your loving responses to me on this board and mine to you makes us all stronger!

God bless you!
