Our church is open about what people wear however we ALWAYS have those people that sniff and turn down their noses at those that aren't dressed to a T. I guess I would rather see someone in raggedy clothes with a genuine love for Christ than those people that are dressed to the nines but haven't had Christ in their hearts for years if ever.

Great story! I thank you for sharing it!

I recognize the Pastor making example for respectable dress code, rather respecting suggest in attire and not following the code of dishonoring culture, that for everything there is a time and place, but there is room for everyone in Christ, that as I recognize the Pastor's demand in proper representable attire for the temple is holy, I am not to agree with the Pastor for his denial on this behalf to make relate of another as a failure having hunger for the word of God .. Convenience will have to be shown, and the Pastor is primarily demanded of it always .. I have written clear and in honesty of myself ..

Yeah...that's not my inner anything. That's just describes me pretty well. God saved me as I am, when he calls me to change I will, willingly. n_n

I grew up wanting to honor my parents, and thus refrained from an outward appearance that made them uncomfortable. Now that I am living on my own, I am free (with their blessing) to appear as I wish, as long as my heart follows after God. That is their only stipulation.

I call him my inner child. My inner child in reality is truly a violent individual, so Solace simply describes how I would like to look, and churches can choose whether or not they'll have a problem with that. A church with a Christ-like attitude will look at my heart, not my outward appearance.

Everywhere how people see the person, so they shall treat the person, it happens to me all the time .. In regards to Christ-like representatives, people taking serious attention to their lives in the hopeful measures, there is no longer disconcernings relating another of any kind therefore individuals can dress however they like around them .. This is what I really love about my current church. I tried really hard to dress "normal" when I first started going there. Of course, normal to me was still a bit...different. I still stood out, no matter what. But as I made friends, they would see me on other non-church days. And a lot of them asked me why I dressed different for church. When I told them how I had been chased away and not-accepted at other churches, they encouraged me to come as I am, unless I had a conviction.

It was a funny thing. They didn't even understand why anyone would TRY to dress different for church. And constantly asked me why I didn't wear the nail polish and stuff. Was it because I was convicted, or just afraid of persecution. Well, the first few times I did it, I got a few odd looks, but what really amazed me was how open people were with me. ESPECIALLY the older people in the church. I started talking to various people, and they were completely open and friendly with me.

I wish everyone could understand just how powerful that type of ministry can be. I had been chased out of churches for being a "devil worshiper sent to tear the church apart from the inside" and once for "looking like a goth". Well, I learned that goths aren't evil, we just love things that others can't, and find beauty where others are repulsed. So, yeah. I'm proud to be a Christian Goth, even if I don't really fit into either world very well anymore.

Enough said is right! "His" sanctuary, eh? Well, I bet Jesus would have a thing or two to say about that attitude! I'll give you my take on this(I'm sure you guys were waiting for it with bated breath, eh?..)

The pharisees dressed to the nines, they knew all the rules and followed all the religious traditions and Jesus called them white washed tombs with dead man's bones in them! Growing up I lived in a home full of rules, pretenses and guilt trips. Needless to say, it didn't turn me into a pious, sweet young lady with great self-esteem and desire to achieve! Gee, I wonder why?... When I came to the Lord, the first thing He told me was that He loved me for who I was at that time, not for who He wanted me to be! I accepted Him in my heart with no hesitations! Gee, I wonder why?... The people in these churches who look down on those wanting to belong and be accepted and loved for who they are just because they dress a certain way make me sick! They are nothing more than modern day pharisees and know nothing about who Jesus truly is or what He is about! They're trying to "clean" the fish and forget that Jesus made us "catchers" not "cleaners"! Our job is to catch the fish, His job is to clean it! The devil is using those people in the worst possible way because he(the devil) knows that the easiest way to catch a "fish" is to love and accept him/her just the way he/she is! My opinion!
