I don't know how many versions there are but I prefer The King James Version because I believe it is closest to the original.

Bible Kings James Version.

i was raised on the king james version. i truly beleive it is the true BIBLE. that highway route 66 is based on the 66 books of the BIBLE, a friend told me of that. the BIBLE is such a good book. I have this dvd that has the whole BIBLE on it...I read along with it and it makes reading the BIBLE very fun. it only cost 14 dollars. I don't knock other versions, it's just that i beleive in this version.

Hi!
As for me, I read Russian Bible.
Among English Bibles I prefer New International Version, because it's more easily understood for me (for I don't know English quite well), but I use Kings James Version as well.

I've been using a student bible, I think it's "The Message". Not incredibly accurate, but it gets to the point very easilly, and I like that, as well as the study notes for students.

The advantages of it are, I can wake up in the morning, sit on the train and read it without straining my head, because I'm dyslexic, I don't like the thee's and thou's of the KJV, so I prefer something simpler, and also, when I use it to teach bible studies to kids, they can understand it better as well.

Simplicity is the way forward!

There are over 50 versions of the Bible, but rather lean to NKJV because I think it may be close to the true meaning and it is easier to understand then the Old English. See link below for different versions. http://www.biblegateway.com/

On another check I came across this list that claims to be over 100. http://www.tyndale.cam.ac.uk/scriptures/
