I have been doing some reading and would love to hear what you all think......what do you think the purpose of church is? I will answer later, but i want to hear what you all think first.

the church is to glorify God,spread the word to generations,and bring comfort to downtrodden.to give food to the needy.to give advice to the confused.to be used in a pure way with no selfishness.to give suppurt to the needy which the world ignore.meeting place for christians to talk,support there faith.to learn each week from the bible.explaining worship days and the meanings.lots more .

THe church is the body of Christ and is supposed to walk on this earth in His stead doing His will and moving in His power, we are His arms, hands and feet and we have been given the prividge of being the fruit bearing portion of the heavenly vine - the church is the bride of Christ sanctifying herself and preapring expectantly for her wedding day- the church is the people of God and if you do not love His people you do not know Him for He loved us when we were most unlovely- many blessings- brother Larry

From what I've seen in most churches it must be for people who claim to be Christians to gather together and fight and bicker about petty, unimportant matters, to call one another names, to accuse one another of wrong doing, and to slander one another's name. I'm being very facetious but unfortunately true.

The true purpose of the church is SUPPOSED to be for believers to gather together for Christian fellowship, praise and worship of our loving God and Saviour Jesus Christ. Rarely will you get unsaved people to come to church (Although it does happen. It happened to me), and we are told to GO OUT and seek them and make disciples of them.

So far, I've agreed with what everyone has said, I can't think of anything else to add. thinking....thinking....thinking..... A church may sometimes require church disciplining.....the church should have a unity in heart and at the same time diversity in abilities and gifts....the church goes beyond denominational boundaries.....the church should display God's love to the lost.....

Best description of what the church should be I've heard, is a hospital for the sick, and not a museum for the saints.

The church exists to glorify God and as a tool for Him to affect the local community. EVERYTHING should be centered around the Gospel, absolutely everything.
