I don't know if this is the right forum for this or not. I wasn't sure so I just put it in the General forum. Sorry if it is wrong, I am kind of new.
My grandad, who is a pastor, once told me that God doesn't elect one person for you, instead he gives you rules to live by but ultimately you determine the end result. He has been married for going on 50 years now so his theory worked for him and it also brings up an interesting discussion. Does God have one person for you or does he just give you rules to live by, but ultimately you make the decision who you are going to marry? Personally I believe in that God gives us rules and restrictions on finding a wife, but ultimately we make the decision who to marry. I have my reasons for believing that, but I would like to hear others opinions on it. |

I wish that I knew the answer. I really do not know!!!!
Funny thing is that there is another discussion Blind Date about Blind Dates and steveh53 had a very good post. That reminded me of the 'mate in the sky' mentality that I had heard about growing up and heard that this was the way the majority of marriages came about where the mate falls out of the sky at church and I was taught that.... And they had the 'testimony' to 'back it up.......' What an Idiot I used to be.......... A painful lesson learned. Then you learn not to go out to find a wife because that's worldly and then when you do go out to try to find a wife, you get so nervous and tense that you are glad to get back home because you are fearing that God is about to slam you with the 'holy hammer' for 'doing wrong'.

Yes, many people come into our lives, right?
So take those rules gave Gave us and ask yourself, "Do they apply to this person I am interested in?" (or attracted to) I always felt though that everyone in our lives is for a purpose and so it has to be our discrimination as to what their purpose is in our life~ |
