Default depressed

im realy depressed right now, it started a few day's ago when i started to find information on my dad, then i started to remember all my friends from way back in the day, my happy day's when i was normal, i had a few real good friends, from liek ages 4-7, then i moved to another side of town and made sme new frinds (real friends) then got taken away from my mom suddenly and never saw any of them ever again, then i moved 300 miles away to the bay area. today im a mess, im obese and i have no friends, im tryign to get my life on track again by loosing weight but its hard. and lately ive been thinking about death, and feeling liek im realy old and im only 17, when i see the so-called friends i have todya at school the sadness goes away and gets replaced with anger, i hate them, sometimes i wish i could just jump back 10 years in my life. sorry for the rambeling but i have to let some of it out

Daniel,
it can be very easy to fall into a depression, at any age for different reasons.
This is a time in your life when you are discoving yourself and your happiness; searching for meaning and purpose to life.
You need to take full control as a Christian and not find temporary, meaningless things to fill the voids in your life.
Music is good.
I love music, but search it out thoughtfully.
Never choose something only because it makes you feel a part of something.
Many people have been led down wrong paths by something they thought was perfectly innocent, in order to bring instant gratification.
God has to be your focus first.
Let him guide you.
Don't mess with the drugs or the things that possibly appear to stand for God behind a guise.
I want to say that I am very proud of you being 17 and choosing Christianity.
Now, don't let satan mislead you through your innocense.
Love, Violet

Daniel17: Please remember the text from 1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV) regarding the things that all of us have to go through at times. Everyone has the same burdens and the same feelings at one time or another, but God will always show us the way to resolve our problems.

If you do not have a Pastor that you can speak with about these issues, please feel free to use the local resources that are available to you and speak with one of the consultants available through the web link listed below.

Chatting with persons here in the forum may help, but it would be best if you speak with a trained and qualified professional if you can not work through this on your own. Blesings to you...

Take a good look at what God has done to bless and keep you Dan, that always helps me when I am down. I also like to stop focusing on the problems and start believing God for better things- that being said depression can be caused by several things- sometimes it is emotional and or spiritual and the answer is always drawing closer to God for He is the source of all healing- sometimes the answer is physical amd if your depression persists I reccomend seeing your doctor- he can run blood tests and verify that your blood levels are normal.
Remember my brother - THE JOY OF THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH- if you don't have His joy you will have no strength- pray with me brother:
Lord God I come to you in Jesus Name- I confess my sins and shortcomings and receive your healing, I cast my cares, sorrows and pain on You and I receive your healing, I cast of the spirit of heaviness and I put on Your garment of praise- Your praise shall now continually come out of my mouth- I leave all my troubles with You- fill me now with Your presence and Your Joy- I ask these things in Jesus Name believing that You hear and that I will receive- amen

Brother I will be praying for you- In His Name Larry

I think its important to find a productive purpose for your life. For example, if you love writing then make it your main focus to write a book you are proud of. Find what you love to do and keep working at it until you have reached your ultimate goal.

Hi Daniel,
I have just read your post. I have trained for the ministry but am also qualified as a Psychologist. For 15 years I ran a Christian counselling centre. I mention that as background so you will understand I am speaking from experience not just to hear my own voice.
Depression can and does affect Christians. We are not immune. It can strike at any age.
There are many and varied causes for depression. These range from spiritual through behavioural to medical problems.
Is there a qualified accredited Christian counseling service in your area? If so I strongly encourage you to see them and let someone who is a trained Christian help you find the root cause of your problem. Until you find out what is causing the problem it is really hard to sort it out.
If the problem is spiritual then they can pray with you and help you get that sorted but if the problem is physical then in addition you may need the short term help of a doctor to adjust the chemical balance.
That is not a sin. It is no different to needing medical treatment for any other bio chemical problem.
Feel free to pm me if you want to chat further.
God bless you,
Ray

Ray, I wish there were more Christian counselors out there.

Daniel, I hope you are feeling better.

I agree. I before I went into semi-retirement I trained over 500 Christians up to the level required for formal accreditation. (This over about 18 years) God has used them is a very wide range of situations such as Christian counseling organizations, churches and even in the secular world. I know of a number who went on and eventually qualified as Psychologists. We need Christians in this field but Christians who are trained and know what they are doing. I am in the UK but in the USA you have the American Association of Christian Counselors.
God bless you,
Ray
