Does anybody have a certain sin or sins....that they just can't seem to shake?
and how do you think God looks at those? And in your opinion can you have a "sin" problem and still be saved? |

Some Christians struggle their whole life with a sin. I think you'll always be saved so long as you believe, but faith produces works, and one of those works should be overcoming recurring sin problems.
Everyone has a sin problem, but it becomes toxic if you stop fighting it! And FYI - I have a whole bunch of sins I battle, some more often than others, but I will never give up the fight! |

Yes, you can have a sin problem and still be saved. You can't be human and not sin, my brother. "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." (1 Jn 1:8) Yes, all Christians struggle with sin. The only time I had no struggle with sin was before I became a Christian! There was no struggle because I went along willingly!!! Brother, sometimes these sins need to be exposed to the light, meaning they need to be confessed publicly or at least before an elder. Not as in confessing to a priest for forgiveness, but to expose the sin and to add a layer of accountability. How does God look at those? With sadness, compassion, love, forgiveness, but never disappointment. Remember, we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." |

But if we accept this without the slightest remorse, does not that imply that we do not believe that God can help us from sinning? In other words we are giving Satan and his temptations the victory. Yes, christians do fall, but the goal should be to aim for Christs perfection and with Gods help we can overcome every sin if we let Him help us. However if we do not believe he can give us the victory, he won't. Most importantly is to never say or think that it is okay for us to sin. Every time we sin we hurt God and when we look at the price Jesus had to pay for our sins we should feel guilty and humbly ask God for foregiveness. If we really are sorry for our sins he has promised to foregive us.
As long as we get up and move forward every time we fall and keep fighting, as someone else here said, that is the most important thing. God has promised to take care of us and help us along the way, but never give up. We can all overcome if we believe and let him help us. Elijah, and every one else for that matter, I advise you to read this booklet called: 12 tips to resisting temptation http://www.amazingfacts.org/items/Re...=713&x=23&y=20 God bless. “Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation” (Mark 14:38 ). “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you” (James 4:8). We don't want to sin but any thought or deed a man makes while he is not "walking in the Spirit" is by the very nature of man corrupt - it was the tree of the fruit of the knowledge of GOOD and EVIL that caused all the trouble- mans thoughts apart from GOd's guidance are ALWAYS corrupt no matter how we try to paint them- the only good fruit is borne when we are fully abiding in the vine!

You are correct. Maybe I should have went a little further with my comment to include overcoming evil. My point was to encourage the brother. So many get the idea that they can live a sinless life and that idea just leads to further discouragement and failure. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” (Mat. 9:13) Blessings in Christ, ElBob |
