Bible

Well I think if you can honestly turn from God there is no way you were ever saved to begin with...

Quote:
Yes they were once saved but can a person lie, gossip, be bitter and hate, and still claim to be saved?
Well we are all still in the flesh..I know I as a saved born again believe have purposely lied...a couple of time..but I have asked the lord to forgive me.

Being bitter and hating are not fruits of the spirit but...somepeople can still be saved and have those feeling because they have just let the enemy get in there mind... I mean who are we to tell a person they arent saved??? I just would pray for them personally the bible tells us not to judge maybe they just need to be refilled or refreshed the bible does talk about that. I give people the option of the doubt because you never know what God might be doing in that persons heart. I just pray for people... I cant believe that you can backslide because as I said previously Why would God give you the Holy Ghost if all he knew you were going to do is loose it?? He wouldnt to that.

My old church use to teach that but I disagree... thats me though. Could you imagine loosing your salvation so easy? I know I dont plan on giving mines up for nothing!

Much love,
Caresse

Once you are saved you remain saved. God adopts you. You become a child of God, and heir with Christ and God will never leave you nor forsake you. Salvation does not depend on your own works.

Nothing

Those who truly accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, don't just "sit on it". They want more of Jesus. They want to deepen their relationship with Him. They want to be one with Him. They long for His presence. They thirst for His Word.

I am intrested to know what everyone thinks.

I believe it takes...

Reading the Bible daily
Prayer
Fasting
Attending Church Services to Stay strengthened and fed spiritually

I believe if you are truly saved that Praise and worship will come naturally, a hunger to know more about God, Peace, Love, and Joy come as part of the package.

What do you think??
It takes nothing to stay saved. One thing that may help to simplify things for you is to notice what is NOT in the Bible. For example, it does not tell us how to be un-born again, un-justified, un-sanctified, un-adopted, un-baptized by the Spirit into Christ, etc. Also, it does not mention a people who have been forgiven of their Adamic sin, but not permitted to enter heaven. They would be some kind of spiritual freak.

I like the things you listed and all are very important to the Christian walk, to maintaining fellowship with God and to growing in Christ, but none are necessary for you to remain saved.

I hope this helps.

Blessings in Christ,
ElBob

Faith in Christ is the only thing that can save you and the only thing that can keep you saved- as far as loosing your salvation there are many views but I think this scripture says it best:

1Jn 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

There are many who followed Jesus for the miracles, loaves and fishes and never wanted much to do with Him or His teaching- sadly the same can said today. Many follow God because they want something from Him- some run around doing things in His Name to satisfy a religious streak in their flesh- these people are referenced in the following scripture:

Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Lord didn't we- all the works ( even in His Name) without Him in your heart won't get you in- many blessings Larry

If you aproach the subject honestly and scripturally there is only one answer- God's Word declares:

1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jn 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
No matter how hard you try you have some area of sin in your life- tell me how can you began in the Spirit trusting Christ for your salvation and expect to earn your way in on your own strength.

What if you die with one unconfessed sin? Will Jesus reject you? What about two? Is it your ability or His faithfulness and goodness that saves? The Word of God has much to say about this-Selah

2Ti 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Amen sister! I have always wondered how those who teach loss of salvation got around the adoption, justification, born again, baptized into Christ, and other doctrines. I have yet to find Scripture that teaches a person can get un-born again, un-justified, un-adopted, etc.

Bless your heart for posting!

JRF is right that we need effort on our part to stay saved.
If God has already forgiven our future sins, what is to keep us from sinning?
The Bible says the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.
We could so easily use that as an excuse to sin, with an "Ah well, God will forgive me" attitude.
I hear ya!
