Hello All,
My name is Rick and I am a new Christian. After reading some of Exodus, the dicription of the "pillar of Fire and Cloud" made me remember something I had heard about in my "New Age Occult" days, but at the time, did not pay much attention. It was the debate that the bible discribes "ALien encounters" and UFO's. I remember the pillar being discussed and also the Book of Ezekiel. In Ezekiel's vision he sees what some believe to be a UFO (wheel) hovering in the air with flashing lights. This has bothered me the more I research it. These UFO believers can explain away all these storys with the UFO mythology (some examples: Life on this planet, Star of Bethelhem, even the Resurrection!) There is no proof of these claims, but what do you say in response? Some major errors I see in this UFO mythology is: 1. God is not just a supreme being - he is THE Supreme Being, eternal, nondestructable, all knowing and powerful... He has said so, and he can NOT lie. Even if there is life out there in the universe, no matter how techno-savy and intellegent a race of aliens would be, NO one could achieve this But THE GREAT I AM. 2. The bible is the WORD of GOD, without error...if the bible says God came in a pillar of Cloud and Fire, he came in a pillar of Cloud and Fire, the end. As for Ezekiel, I think the discription of what he saw is not a "newspaper" report but a vision, like Revelations. He uses the would "Likeness" often saying this-or-that had the "Likeness" of something. 3. Aliens (if they exsist) are not eternal, but have bodies which can die, the same sites that push the UFO/Bible connection talk about the Roswell crash where Aliens supposedly died in the crash... or so the story goes. Why talk about this? Because I feel it takes away from the seriousness of the Faith, not Just Christian, but Jew and Muslim. God is made out to be an ALien playing a trick on us dumb humans.. like the Wizard in the movie WIzard of Oz, behind the curtain, pretending to be something he is not. And God can't pretend to be something he is not, for that would be a lie and God can not lie. What are your thoughts on the bible/UFO connection? Peace Rick |

Nobody knows what God has created in this vast universe- I personally beleive we are visited by other wordly beings all the time- angels and demons- I also don't personally believe in ufo's- living near an airport I have watched places as they turn and bank at different angles- they appear to talke on all different kinds of shapes and sometimes even look like they are hovering -especially at night and who knows what the military is testing- they say what the public sees is 20 to 40 years behind actual developement. As far as niegh- sayers the have been around for a long time and are constantly trying to find something-anything that will help them deny the one fact they really don't want to face- The Lord our God is Master and Maker of all-

Read the Book of Ezekiel 1-48 (KJV) paying particular attention to Ezekiel 1 (KJV). Remember that until that time, Ezekiel had only seen the wheels on ox carts (vertical) but these wheels that he is describing are horizontal. Look carefully at the entire book, chapters and verses and if you wish, take the important descriptive words back to the original Hebrew language with a good quality Strong's Concordance. As an example, in Ezekiel 1:4 (KJV) and in Ezekiel 1:27 (KJV) the word AMBER is a poor translation. In the Hebrew, it was written as "highly polished bronze". There are many such descriptions that make significantly more sense in the original Hebrew than in the English translations of 1611.
Use this analogy in pondering Ezekiel's descriptions... Place yourself in England in May in the year 1611. You are one of the translators working on the King James Version bible. On your way home from a hard day of translating, you see ahead of you, a dust cloud on the dirt road a mile or so away. As the dust cloud gets closer, you hear the sound of thunder. You are terrified because YOU have never seen anything like that before. THEN, as the dust cloud reaches you, you see something way beyond anything that you have seen before... a 2007 BMW X-5 SUV that has just popped in on your year 1611 road with several persons on board who just finished watching a local Rugby match in May 2007. NOW, try to explain what YOU saw to your family and your fellow translators the next day... not only do we have dimensional travel, but a machine that is unable to be described in your terms of understanding. I think that good old Ezekiel did a pretty good job. |

So, are you saying what Ezeikel saw was a UFO, or was this a vision,
in some sort of trance-state? I don't doubt our friend Ezeikel saw something unknown, I believe it was God, supernatural and was shown in the code of symbols. A symbol can convey much information in a short amount of time (a picture is worth a thousand words), and a series of symbols could convey much more. Why would God or an angel need a craft, if they are spirit? Peace in Christ Rick |

Indeed God is Spirit but He rides upon the clouds when He cares to- Jesus will come riding on a white horse- these are factual and symbolic- I don't think it was a spacecraft but it had some resemblance to the cheribum who stood by the throne of God- each having 4 faces each face representing an attribute of the gospels of Jesus Christ- Ezekial is indeed one of the most difficult books in the bible to understand but I don't let that trouble me- little by little He increases my understanding and one of these days I will understand it all.
