Hello Brethren,

First, thank you for all your prayers and
compassion concerning my Dad's 'passing'!

The so called 'Gospel of Judas', another one of
Satan's ploys to difuse the Divinity and Credibility
of Our Lord Jesus Christ and God's Word. Rides hot
on the 'heels' of the total debauchery of the 'Davinci
Code'!

With these planned demonic attacks on the validity
of 'our' Christian faith, it would seem that he knows
that his 'time' is indeed short'!! Rev.12:12b.

"What is the gospel of Judas?"



Sometime in the 1970’s, in a cave in Egypt, a copy
of the “gospel of Judas� was discovered.

The circumstances of the discovery have been
described as shady, with those who possessed the
copy asking for exorbitant amounts of money for the
codex.

For decades, no institution was willing to pay for the
purchase due to its dubious origins. Eventually the
codex of the gospel of Judas was purchased by a
foundation in Switzerland.

The existence of the gospel of Judas codex was made
public in 2004, but the actual release of the content of
the codex has been repeatedly delayed, with the now
expected release date of April, 2006. The dating of the
gospel of Judas codex is likely the 5th century A.D. Up
to one-third of the codex is missing or illegible.


Prior to this discovery, the only reference to the gospel
of Judas was in the writings of a 2nd century Christian
named Irenaeus.

Irenaeus essentially wrote that the gospel of Judas was
the “invented history� of a long line of heretics and rebels
against God.

The essential message of the gospel of Judas is that Jesus
wanted Judas to betray Him because it was necessary to fulfill
Jesus’ plan.

If it was Jesus' plan for Judas to betray Him, why would Jesus
label Judas the "son of perdition" (John 17:12), and state that
it would have been better if Judas had never been born
(Matthew 26:24).

If Judas was simply following Jesus' instructions, why would he
commit suicide once he saw that Jesus was condemned?
(Matthew 27:5)


The gospel of Judas is a Gnostic gospel, espousing a Gnostic
viewpoint of Christianity. The gospel of Judas is simply a
heretical forgery, much the same as the gospel of Thomas,
the gospel of Mary, and the gospel of Philip.

Just as Judas Iscariot rejected Jesus and betrayed Him with
a kiss, the gospel of Judas rejects the true Gospel and truth
of God with a fraudulent appearance of validity.

The discovery in the desert of Egypt of the leather-bound
papyrus manuscript, and now its translation, was announced
by the National Geographic Society at a news conference in
Washington. The 26-page Judas text is said to be a copy in
Coptic, made around A. D. 300, of the original Gospel of Judas,
written in Greek the century before.


The reaction of Bible scholars is that the Gospel of Judas is
interesting but no challenge to the New Testament.

"The manuscript tells us nothing about
the historical Jesus or the historical Judas," said
Ben Witherington III, professor of New Testament
interpretation at Asbury Theological Seminary in
Wilmore, Ky. "It tells us a lot about a group that
were labeled heretics in their own day."

Scholars on all sides agree that the text
was probably produced by a scribe in a Gnostic
community of Cainites — early Christians who regarded
the traditional villains of the Bible, including Cain and
Judas, as heroes.

"There is no evidence that any of these documents ever
represented mainstream Christianity," Professor
Witherington said. "The Cainites were always on the
fringes of their own movement."

He said that unlike the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke
and John, which were written in Christianity's first century,
Gnostic works were produced in the second century and
afterward.

To say that the Gospel of Judas reveals anything factual
about Judas, Dr. Witherington said, "is like saying a
document written 150 years after George Washington
died tells us the inside truth about George Washington."

The Gospel of Judas is the latest piece of satanic
garbage that like 'all' garbage, should wind up in the
appropiate place..

I totally agree with you SetFree. We should all be anticipating things like this and even more in the future. Satans desperately trying to attack christians during the endtimes.

Yes, Satan is certainly striking will all his might, so we must be ready. Like Paul says in Ephesians:
"Finally, my brethren, be stong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, htat ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take upon you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand." (Eph. 6:10-13)

We must be ready because it's not going to get any easier. Thankfully, though, we have God on our side, which is infinitely better than the alternative.

From what I understand , they are not claiming that Judas composed this "gospel",but rather that it is the story of Jesus' crucifixion told from Judas' standpoint. Someone please correct me if I am wrong in this.
