Daniel - when you pray or repent, just talk with our Father. You don't need a prepared prayer or something out of a book... just tell Him from your heart what it is that you want in plain language and He will hear you. It is more fitting to just chat with Him than it is to do a prepared ceremony with the prayers that others have written. His is your friend, your mentor, your spiritual Father and all he wants to hear is sincerety from you in your own words. Pray to God, but pray in the name of Jesus Christ. That establishes your credentials as a Christian. Blessings to you...

Amen Pastor Gary- prayer from the heart is the only one Jesus is really interested in- repititious or " mechanical" prayer isn't what He is after- He wants to talk to you!

You're on the right track. Remember that you are approaching the Creator of the Universe in your prayers and He should be respected as such...not that you don't respect your mother .

The amazing this is that He absolutely wants to communicate with us...can you imagine that the same God of Abraham, Moses, Paul, and all the great prophets is the same God we have the privelege to speak with at any time? It blows me away sometimes.

He already knows what you're thinking and how you're feeling, just open yourself up and let the Holy Spirit speak through you.

The Lord's prayer isn't something to be prayed, so much as it should be a structure for all our prayers:

Our Father in Heaven - Addressing the prayer to the Lord

Holy be your name - Bringing reverence to the Lord. Take time to really focus on the awesomeness of our God.

Thy Kingdom Come - We act as Christians because we want to bring God's
Kingdom to Earth. We pray to God for the strength to allow us to do this.

Thy Will Be Done - In all of our prayers, they can only be answered if they prayer is within God's will. If you ask God for 10 hookers that night, it's not going to happen, because it's not in God's will (sorry for the extreme example!) But if you ask God for something reasonable, there is no reason why he shouldn't do it.

On Earth as it is in Heaven - The same as thy kingdom come really. We are praying that we can live our lives to a standard of holiness that brings the glory of Heaven down to Earth for all to see.

Give us this day our daily bread - This doesn't just refer to our mortal nourishment so much as it does our spirtual nourishment as well. We pray that God will provide for us financially, with a shelter and food and water, but we also pray that each day he will give us Holy blessings and protect us.

Forgive us our tresspasses - We should pray to God to forgive us of our sins. We can't approach God for pray with sin on our heart, so to confess in front of God is to have him listen to us.

As we forgive those who tresspass against us - How can we expect God to work blessings in our lives if we're still harbouring grudges against those who have wronged us. It's really important to be free of hate of grievance before approaching God. Although it's hard, we pray to God for the strength to help us forgive those who hurt us the most.

Lead us not into temptation - Pray to God that he may protect you from Satan's rapture, and that you can reject all temptation before it even happens.

But delivery us from evil - Pray that God will take you out of situations where you are likely to sin.

If you use this general structure for prayer, you should be able to cover every aspect of your life and pray the perfect prayer :-)
