in class today a student yelled "jesus christ" kinda loud so that started a disscussion on religion, my teacher started saying how people turn to religion becous they are scared, the want to believe that there is an afterlife and that life is not meaningless, and that we are here for a reason. i thought it was kinda rude of her to talk like that with me sitting in class wearing a shirt with a picture of mother mary wearing a robe and inside the robe is a picture of jesus looking up with the spike crown, the whole picture is borderd with roses. so what does everyone think about what she said?

That is her (uneducated) opinion. It's a rather offencive opion for it's uneducatedness therefore rendering it worthless (and stupid.) Therefore, tell her that and basically have a discution about it until it gets to the point were you call tell whomever runs your school about it and they will deal with your teacher.

It WAS rude of her acting like her opinion was a fact. Especially when it couldn't be farther from the truth.
We as Christians can't be afraid to speak up. Not push it down peoples throats but be willing to stand up for what we believe in. Allow the spirit to work through you, and that will shut the mouths of the ignorant. Sincerely/Mary |

I think. . . If your going to be going to secular school with non Christian people all about you, your going to have to expect to hear that kind of talk. Your best move is to get used to it for the whole world is like it. Quote:

Showing disrespect and causing controvercy and disruption isn't a good witness to the truth. Be smart about it loved ones. Don't confront the unbelievers in public. Don't take on the group or class or school or world in a public battle over your rights. It only causes anger and gets you into trouble. Jesus Said Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. This teacher's display gives you the perfect opening to talk to and witness to individuals. Sincerely His Cliff Last edited by Theophilus; 05-09-2007 at 11:20 AM. |

People don't turn to religion because they are scared...people turn to religion for the Truth and the comfort that God provides - obviously a concept that this teacher and MANY other "educators" can't quite get their heads around.
When I see the current state of "higher education" in the United States, I just cringe, because due to years of liberal lawmaking regarding what can and can not be taught, the vast majority of 'teachers' in the public systems these days are filling our children's heads with their OWN agenda of anti religious doctrines and Satan inspired garbage. They took God out of the classrooms 30 years ago... look at the current crop of 'parents' and see what that lessening of religious education over the years has done to them and their children... no discipline, no family values and no weekly worship... all signs of the end times. |

Non believers are by no means uneducated. Nor are they stupd. That is why what they say have so much impact on society. Quote] I would have to agree that all non believers are not stupid- some off course may be but that is not a crime in itself- I don't think I would cause any controversy either unless the incident is repeated at whuch time I would complain LOUDLY- but thats just me- do what God puts in your heart. |

Take heart in knowing that you're not alone. I agree with the others here that this is very common. Unfortunately, if you were to defend your point of view, many would accuse you of violating the separation of church and state or some other such garbage.
I think Theophilus nailed it: Quote:

One thing most secular people don't know or don't want you to know is that as a student you are intitled to your religious views- if you wanted to start a bible study( club) group at your school as an after school extra cirricular project the school would be forced to agree or shut down every other club- to do any less would be discrimination and leave them liable to be sued- if you ever feel discriminated against go online and visit Jay Sekulow- his organization American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ)
goes all over the country helping christians fight discrimination FOR FREE- and he has taken some cases all the way to the supreme court of the United States and won- WOW-

Where on earth is the LOVE in your hearts, people?
I don't mean to criticize, but if you can accept and welcome an ex-satanist like myself into a forum like this, and furthermore, support me through the most difficult and trying time of my life, why so much harsh criticism here? Certainly, if there is anyone deserving of harsh words it's me...but instead of skepticism and anger, I was welcomed with open arms and shown incredible compassion by so many here on this forum.I'm not suggesting that the example in this thread is by any means acceptable, but I find myself surprised by some responses. Jesus associated with tax collectors, leppers, and prostitues and showed them unconditional love, did he not? He came to save those who needed saving the most. He came to take the seeds cast upon the rocks and lovingly place them in good soil...that how I've come to think of my own salvation. Matthew 21:32 Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. (32) For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him. Matthew 18:21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" (22) Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. Am I wrong? WasLost |
