A friend asked me that with this new discovery, what that does for Christianity.

Nothing. Irrelevent. I told him.

What if they find life there? Intelligent life?

Hasn't happened yet, I told him. And even so, some interpretations of the Books of the Bible suggest that there are other planets and things living out there.

My thought is that God is infinite, and therefore, all of the details and complications of our lives, nations, and the entire planet are miniscule in terms of God's attention (not love, attention). Seems like he made this planet and solar system to work pretty well in a hands-off mode, so who knows what else he created...

True, but if you start doing the math with the known stars, the odds are overwhelmingly in favor of trillions of earth-like planets.

Personally I am really excited about this! The Word of God is infinite and I don't think either of us will ever truly interpret the meanings and hiden secrets in it, so I am not even going to get boged(is this how you spell this word?...) down in wether or not the earth is the only habitable planet in the whole universe. The point is if they found another "Earth" out there it will be great to see what will hapen in the future. Hey, I'm a treky so... what can I say?

My concern about space exploration is a little different- if Jesus doesn't come back first man will reach out into the stars for His maker has given him a curious mind- my thought is more about biology-
No human can even digest his food without the nessecary bacteria growing in his intestines- we are truly perfectly intergrate into this biosystem so if we find another life supporting planet what will be the concequences of a single new bacteria or virus? Just something to think about.
