a friend once said "you can't keep a bird form landing on your head but you can sure keep him from building a nest"- the same can be said with ungodly thoughts- sometimes they might pop into your mind but if you kick them out right away you will not be stuck with a bird's nest on your head

That reminds me of One Bad Pig's song "Bird Nest"..."See a birdie in the air, Build a birdnest in your hair, If temptation comes your way, Why not take it all the way?"
The song talks about how we let temptation in and it controls us. But I never thought about it the way you said it...if it falls on you, kick it out right away so that a "bird nest" does not form! A couple of week ago I trimmed the bushes around my house (way overdue). There were lots of birds nests that I had to clean out and it was tough to get all the little pieces out of the bush. So I guess in the same way it is easier to kick out a temptation that just landed. If we entertain it, let it settle in and then kick it out we will have a hard time removing all the little pieces left behind.

Morning all!
I heard someone once say that you should get rid of temptation at it's on-set, before it settles in and it will take a truck load full of Christians to come and peel you of the side of the road. I thought that was funny, but oh, so true!Laura
