Recently, God has been hitting me hard with a burden for the lost. I realize that it is his will for me to have a compassion to reach out to them but I am struggling with the issue. I work with some of the biggest atheist you could image, although they would not call themselves that. This being so, I believe I have allowed myself to become desensitized to just how far from the truth they are. God is now reeling me back into reality and it's a little tough.

Has anyone else struggled with this lately?

Hi Dustin!

I think every believer has in them a degree of burden for the lost. I believe it was put there in our hearts, the day we became saved. I also very much understand how one would become desensitized just by watching what is hapening all around us these days. I will tell you this though. If you feel in your heart a strong pull from the Lord for the lost, you can just start praying for them in general, in your home, in your time of prayer. God will honor that step and He will help you become more and more mercifull and more and more see these people through His eyes; then, one day, you'll fing yourself calling people by name in your prayer, as God put's more and more people on your heart to pray for. Hi dustinnoe- I know what you are feeling-it is a sign that God is moving in your heart when you find compassion for others welling up in you- I would like to suggest that you ask God to help you to see these lost souls thru His eyes- this will totally change your perspective on even the hardest of hearts- and yes mom prayer will move mountains- one thing to remember is that the light of Christ shines in all we do and given enough time and the right circumstances these lost souls will be drawn to you in their time of troubles- they may not even know why but they will come to you to tell you their troubles and what an excellent opportunity to pray for them and see God demonstrate His love for them. Above all be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading and you will get a witness in your spirit when it is time to witness, pray or just lend a helping hand- I have never met a person who given enough time would not respond to genuine love.To quote a friend of mine "we must sometimes build a bridge of friendship that will sustain the wieght of truth"-
