I would say a truly boring sermon in rare in my house of worship- even then I find many respond to the message- I guess not every service is directed to my particular needs-lol! Seriuosly though I find that most people are aware of their sin problems and more time should be spent showing them the answer to their problem - Jesus -and teaching them about who and what they are in Christ a new creation- walking in His ressurection power and newness of life!
If sharing God's Word I like to ask my Helper and Teacher- the Holy Spirit to help me share God's Word in a way that brings glory to Him and understanding to the people. |

I like a very active preacher.
At our Church my dad sometimes preaches loud and jumps around. Hardly anyone gets bored when he's on the pulpit. He prays much before delivering a sermon.

Good thinking. I forgot one on my blog ... how about if you just read your notes and never look up?

Every once in a while, you hear a preacher that just doesn't seem to be excited about their own message. Like they don't care, or they are bored. Hard to expect me to stay awake, if they can barely stay awake themselves.

A little out of our relm here at our chapel. We do not 'preach' or vocalize sermons. Our staff of Associate Pastors and Associate Deacons TEACHES God's Word chapter by chapter and verse by verse, from the King James Version 'Companion Bible' using referencing to the Original Manuscript language wording through high quality, original issue Strong's Concordances.
We have yet to find anyone who feels that the Word of God is 'boring', during our sessions. I can't answer your question directly, because it does not apply to our chapel format. |

That is not entirely true. I went to a Church for awhile where the Pastor droned on in a monotone for over an hour every sunday. I swear this guy could put anyone to sleep. I would start out paying close attention and after about fifteen minuets my eyes would glaze over and I would start nodding off.
It was something about the way he spoke. I just finally left the church out of boredom. This guy would have made a great hypnotist or something. Steve |

There was pastor preaching his heart out one day and when he looked down and was shocked to see a man slepping in the front row! Frustrated and angry he shouted out" deacon wake that man up!" to which the deacon replied "you wake him up , you put him to sleep!"- LOL
