In God's Word there is always order :
1Th 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. spirit, soul ,body- and are three types of men- 1. the spiritual man whom communes with God and recieves wisdom from heaven: 1Co 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1Co 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 1Co 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 1Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1Co 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. 2. the soulish man- mind intellect and will- all these are useful tools given to us by the Creator- but the intellect is not supposed to take the place of spirtual revelation for "the natural man " apart from God's spiritual impartations ( the ultimate source of Wisdom) cannot understand or receive from his creator- he is out of balance this leads to confusion, missunderstanding and a host of errors 3. the fleshly man- Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. the word fleshly is translated: sarx Probably from the base of G4563; flesh (as stripped of the skin), that is, (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extension) the body (as opposed to the soul (or spirit), or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred, or (by implication) human nature (with its frailties (physically or morally) and passions), or (specifically) a human being (as such): - carnal (-ly, + -ly minded), flesh ([-ly]). the fleshly man is driven and controlled by his base appetites and ruled by his lusts and desires, he is out of balance and this leads to sin in all it's many forms. It is only the spiritual man who can has knowledge of God's heart and therefore only the spiritual man can judge in the light of that revelation. As l man receives revelation in his spirit (from God) this can flow into a mind that is yielded to Jesus- the mind begans to believe God's revelation instead of it's old way of thinking- this is called being renewed in your mind Rom 12:2- litterally transformed if the life force of your mind Eph 4:23. As this renewed mind yields to the revelation of God's Spirit the body begans to follow. |
