Ray ..... I think the way you worded it. She is my late wife sounded as if she had passed on ...... He he . ..... Wording is so important . I knew what you meant but it is funny ..... LOL

But Dusty that was deliberate. It was all a play on words.
My first wife sounds as if I have had more than one. I have not
My present wife sounds as if I had a previous. I have not.
My late wife sounds as though she has 'passed on' but no she is just late.

Ah man!! I never said "old" I said "OL" I understand in MexAmerican that "OL" is a respect to da wife. Unless I was informed incorrectly. I have known this term for 40 years. I would never disrespect my wife not willingly anyways. She is a God fearin lady!! If it were'nt for her I would be a lost soul!! She keeps me aware O Yeah!! God Bless her heart!
