Jesus said we should give and not turn our backs away from the poor etc..
but what bout beggars who chose that path? Or use every penny they get to buy alcohol?or beggars who are very capable of getting a little job? today as I was driving I stopped as the light went red... He came to my window and asked me for money.. But I could see he was a drunk more than anything else, I looked across and saw his wife sitting on the side of the road but I could see that she was also a drunk... I shook my head saying no and I drove off...as I drove off I remembered what Jesus said and I felt bad... In south Africa at nearly every main light there is a begger,i dont always give... what are your thoughts on " capable beggers?i feel most are qualified to get a job but they choose the life of a begger? thanks ![]() |

Look in 1 Thessalonians 3...... it tells us that if a man does not work, then he shall not eat. (Verses 7-14)
If a person is able bodied and refuses to work, then you are under no obligation from God to provide for that man. When the Bible speaks of providing for the poor, it often pairs the word with others words such as orphan, widow, etc. It is speaking about helping out those who have a legitimate need. |

Right on the money , honey. He he ....
![]() Let the Holy Spirit be your guide , besides once the money is out of our hands we are not responsible for what some one else does with it. Don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.
