oogii, I think we are saying the same thing but not in the same way!

This is why I teach our children "NEVER to Name the livestock."

I don't know anyone who isn't touched inside when a fine animal has fulfilled it's life.

No one with a heart that is.

Yeah...animals are such a blessing at times. They make wonderful friends!
Thank you, CS for not bombarding me with our differing views. That's what I like about this website...even if we do not agree with each other no one tries to degrade one another and intimidate each other.

I see to much of that these days.

Right on and that brings us to the point if we think animals have souls , then we might as well believe that we come from apes as the evolutionists would have us believe.

God tells us that on the same day He made all animals that walk on the earth (the sixth day), He created man separately in His own image with the intent that man would have dominion over every other living thing on Earth (Genesis 1:26-28). From this it is clear that there is no animal that is man’s equal, and certainly none his ancestor.

Yes, they are great companionship.
Can you just imaging what a glorious world this would be if we could all learn to forgive the way a dog does?

I think that's one of the reasons God blessed us with animals, so that we could learn from them as well.

It seems to me, that all of His gifts are something we can learn from.

I agree 100% Dusty. They are gifts, and blessings, but not equals.
(Nor ancestors!)

Yes , they are gifts but there are some people who treat them like real people.and spend enormous amounts of money on them, when you think there are so many in this world without the necessities of life.

No , I am not against pets as I have two adorable cats that I would not part with but I do not want to ever think of them as human.

They are indoor cats and one just scooted out the door tonight and I couldn't get her back as she was in a neibour's locked yard. She wouldn't even come when I rattled the treat bag . She just sat there and meowed and defied me.

I hear ya, although we have two dogs that have it pretty good.

We go through cats like crazy out here, a few months ago we took a litter of 5 to keep down the mice and the coyotes had them all eaten within two weeks.

We just can't manage to keep them around.

Yeah.
I don't think we are equal to animals. Some person (PETA...) called them "brothers and sisters".
Wow, my dog is my brother?! Nope!
Just as we are different, maybe animals have souls that are, well, different. Wow, God's world is so interesting!
I think as long as other people respect other's people's beliefs, no problemo.
I can't imagine my life without my animals.
They make life different.
I do too wish I was as forgiving as a dog, or as gentle as a dove.
They amaze me sometimes.

oogii, all I will say is that God had all sorts of animals in the garden, and I can see no reason to think that there will not be animals in heaven.

In fact, it seems to me that heaven would be missing something if it were not filled with all of Gods glorious creation.

I don't believe that the dog I lost years ago will be there to greet me, but that being said, I sure don't think there is any harm in believing that she will.

With God, all things are possible.

Yeah.
Maybe if they are in Heaven, they'll be different. Maybe we'll be able to understand them. Hear what their thoughts and such. Sometimes, animals remind me of babies. They can't speak to you in a coherent, human-language, but try their hardest!
