I do not fear famine, for I know where the wild cherries grow, the huckleberries, blackberries, wild grapes, the hazelnuts and acorns, the camas, cattails, water lilies. I know where the forgotten plum trees are and the apple and pear, where the walnuts and chestnuts fall ungathered. I know where there are streams and lakes stocked with fish and wildlife in abundance. But all that means nothing, more importantly, I have learned to trust my Father to provide. "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want".

I can just imaging Don wrestling the squirrels for nuts!
![]() Seriously my father in law had a huge pecan tree loaded with pecans. The only way he would get any is to pick them green and let them ripen in a mesh sack. The squirrels were quite pudgy!

Well perhaps we should fear it as long as the human population grows. If all the farm land today were growing organic, completely natural crops then we would have a huge food shortage. If we as people wish to keep growing in numbers, which I think most of us do, then we need to have some fear of famine and make sure that we do everything we can to avoid it. As long as we care for our fellow man I think we should worry.

![]() Just be careful when it hits, though...there's a certain root that grows in the Pacific NW. Two types. One is delicious. Sweet. Fruit from the soil. The other can kill you in a matter of hours if you eat it. The only difference between these two roots are a slight variation in color of the leaves. ![]() Makes you wonder how people figured this out, huh? I love me some huckleberries. Oooh! And some wild strawberries from the mountains. Yummy! Make some cobbler with that. ![]()
