And the people there were falling down during prayer. It was different. Another woman was so into the worship songs that instead of putting her arms up like most people do, she was moving her arms in such a weird way-almost like she was trying to "feel" for the Holy Spirit. It kind of looked like sign language but it wasn't. I've never seen anything like it.

Have you ever seen this type of behavior during church? Just wondering, cause I've never seen it before.

Does the Holy Spirit cause people to fall backwards or to make gestures like this?

No, not really. The only thing I see people doing in Church is shaking their heads back-and-forth, saying "Amen", and raising one or both hands in the air.

Who am I

The Holy Spirit can and does move people to do and say strange things at times.
I’ve been to a lot of different Churches and have seen a lot of different things.


Are they all for real?
No.
Do I know which are real and which are not?
Not all the time.
If I focus too much on what is and what isn’t real, does that take my focus off of God?
Yes.


When I go to a different Church I’ve never been to before, I try not to pay attention to what the others are doing too much. I’ve fallen back before myself. I’ve felt the presence of God. I’ve seen the presence of God one time as well. That was a special occasion.


Sometimes satan will sneak in and have someone (often unknowingly) do some crazy stuff just to get people to take their focus off of God.


If you’re not sure about some of it, just put it on the shelf for now. You can keep an eye on it, but keep the other eye on God. Never take your focus off of God. Never pay too much attention to what others are doing. You can pay attention, just not too much attention. God can do some amazing things that might seem a little crazy at times, but hey… He’s God. He can do what He wants.

You made me realize that it did take my attention away from God. Cause I had sort of a staring problem. I tried to stop looking, but every time I did my eyes went back to them lol.

The thing is, there were people standing there to catch people incase they fell. Which made me wonder if it was real or not.



...By the way this is completely irrelevant but everytime I hear the song Who Am I by CastingCrowns I think of you. Is that where you got your name?

Yes

These things are quite the norm around here. Sure you can generally find a few flakes anywhere you go but if a Church is on fire for God you will see it demonstrated in many ways. The abandonment of self during worship, a powerful life changing Word as breathed on by the Spirit and a genuine love for the lost souls in their area.
When I worship God I look up to the heavens and pour my heart out- I am not really interested in what others think of my worship and truthfully I generally do not even notice them. I am there for one thing- to press in and touch the heart of my Lord and to be touched by Him.

I wasn't judging, I was asking. I didn't say it was definitely fake-I just wanted to know if it was or not. I still have a lot to learn about God.

I love CFS but I'm almost afraid to ask questions for fear of offending someone, cause it seems to happen half the time I speak. So if I come across as rude please someone let me know. I'm really sensitive and I get upset when I upset someone.

Who am I

I absolutely agree.
There is a big difference in “offending” someone and someone being “offended”


Most of the time if someone is “offended” it is their own choice. They own it, you don’t, so let them worry about it. You don’t need to try to carry someone else’s baggage just to keep them happy.
