Smelly - one of my worst fears is being bored. I'm terrified of being bored! It's scary to me.

You should see my little work station. I have to be multi-tasking constantly to keep me busy. I need to be entertained constantly or I become bored easily. I have an organizer that I keep up-to-date with my appointments, emails, contacts. I have a gameboy, a mp3 player, a portable video device that I watch my movies on, a voice recorder, etc.

What I found out is this: when seeking to do my job, whatever it is, I have to let go. Back in my wild days, when I was a deejay, I would do my best because I was always the kid that never got a pat on the back. I wanted someone to be proud of me. I wanted the accomplishment. I never heard my mom or dad say they were proud of me, and that always left a deep scar in me. But it was one that I chose on my own to feel the pain of for a long, long time.

Today, I throw myself into my work for God's glory. Whatever it is, I want to do the best job that I can do...but not to receive the pat on the back myself. I want to do good so that other people can see God's glory. My light will shine, and people will say to themselves: That's how a Christian behaves.

It's all for Him, whatever we do. Not for us. I'm the supervisor now, I'm the partial owner of my company, and yet I take no pride in any of this because the glory goes to God. He did this for me. He pulled me out of the dumpsters on the street and He said Look, this is what I am able to do with someone down and out who believes in the Lord and obeys.

I'll work hard today for Him, whatever I do. He's given me so much. My cup truly runneth over. But I'm not proud or boastful today like I was in the past. Because without Him, I'd still be living on the streets.

He's amazing, our God.
